NBA Official 2026 NBA Playoffs Thread

If and when the Nuggets complete the comeback, it'll set up the best C duel in the playoffs since probably '04 O'Neal and Duncan. Jokic and Davis in '20 and '23 would be the closest.

Wolves are hurting, quite literally. All road teams are expected to win tonight. Today's developments make that a safe bet, but the games have to be played.

Lescum finally gonna get that foot surgery he’s been talking about for years after blowing the first 3-0 lead ever? Might bring out another cast like in 2018 too lmfao

NYK at ATL : When i did my predictions i have the Knicks winning in 7, but i think they close the series tonight in 6.
BOS at PHI : 76's can win, but i think they are goin to fall short and be eliminated in their own home.
DEN at MIN : This is Minnesota last chance in this series, and saddly i think we are gonna have a game 7 in this series.

OT but worth posting: The past month or so they've been going back and counting Wilt's Blocks from a couple seasons of his career and his numbers are insane.

Interesting. So due to lack of competition in the area, they have more loyal fans likely to stick with the team?

I just had a look and it seems that Seattle is a similar distance away from Portland, so I'm guessing that won't make any difference if Seattle gets a team again and it won't cut into any of the fanbase?

Blazers has the longest sellout streak in professional sports history. If went form the mid 70s to the mid 90s, and they weren't good all the way during that time either. Times are different with all the competition in entertainment but generally small markets had very loyal fanbases, just pride and identify. In some sense small markets were just good the major professional teams would even put a team there.
Didn't realize that Charlotte is that far away from the Carolina Hurricanes home stadium. So the previous two years, they were still filling their home center up to about ~90% capacity.
I just had a look. I don't know how the standings work in the NHL (couldn't figure it out as I don't watch NHL - been meaning to give it a go, but never got around to it), and it seems that Carolina had a good season? Are they a chance to win it all?

Look at points. Wins are 2 pts and ot losses are 1. Carolina are doing well this year but I doubt they’d win it all. No has a great product but Gary Bettman is making it a point to push the Stanley cup down south so that ice hockey can make it down south.
Darn, didn't realize the Blazers still get pretty good attendance. Wasn't teams like Atlanta getting poor attendance for years? Do they have a lot of other sporting teams around there apart from the NFL's Falcons?
And weren't the Clippers getting poor attendance before Kawhi went there?
Atlanta has football baseball and basketball. Hawks are clearly the least popular of the three. Clippers will forever be the lakers little brother.

As for NBA coaches salary, I had no idea coaches are making anywhere near 15M. I thought 1.5M is underpaying, but I didn't think it was by that much. Is it disclosed how much each NBA coach makes, or can that be kept private?
Not all are public but big names make $15m or more. Kerr makes $17.5, spolestra, lue makes $15m. Then the good coaches like Carlisle mazzula. Ames $10 to $15.

I don't know why people take Chamberlain's counting stats seriously in relation to other GOAT's, especially C's.

Rebounds and blocks were inflated in that era due to high pace and minutes, low shooting percentages, no 3 (so played within' smaller confines) and a relative dearth of talent for a league still in its relative infancy. As ever, rate and advanced stats are far more telling.

He was kind of the Babe Ruth of his time. Probably a little bit more myth than reality to him. He was obviously the most athletically, gifted, powerful, and biggest center of his time making many of those feats relatively easy for him. When you watch him on film even in the 1960s he’s not more athletically gifted or talented than many of the Bigs in the modern game that came after him.

lakers/rockets have had 2 days off between games 3 times already...
On the bright side, compressed schedule usually favors the healthier/younger team, and that’s us!

From a selfish perspective, this schedule works very well for me… means I will only have to watch one game on an iPad from a hotel room in Tokyo
