wolves did fine on the boards, both teams are 11-27 from 3.

Mcdaniels missed several wide open looks in the 2nd/3rd when the game was closer

But 24 turnovers from minny… that’ll happen when your starting backcourt is out. That was the big difference today

His offense is really hard to watch. Hes been rejected by a rim a few times this series. He has bad hands, and really stalls the offense if his initial dribble handoff doesn’t work out

And then not only was Jokic able to go to work today, but Goberts overall rim protection was bad today. Cam Johnson went right at him and scored on him at the rim a few times

Hope he does better next game. Denver still isn’t playing all that great. Minny lost with one on their turnovers tbh
 
Nuggets are still unconvincing, but the Wolves are too toothless offensively now to punish them for it.

The Spurs shouldn't put the cart before the horse. As for KD, there is no need to bring in a 37 year cantankerous All Star who quit on all of his teams ever since he was rightly called for bandwagoning onto the Warriors.

The Spurs should try to improve on the margins next season. Get a very good back up to Wemby and Kornet. (How about Porzingis being given a chance to resurrect his career or Timelord?). Get a better shooter than Lindy Waters (will CJ McCollum come over chasing a ring? How about Matisse Thybulle). Load up on more 3 and Ds to replace a flagging Barnes. (Tobias Harris on a cheap?).

There is no need for any big bang for at least one more season.

Agreed with everything except getting another center. Wemby/Kornet is easily the best center rotation in the league. What this team needs is a good power forward who can hit a respectable clip from the three while also shoring up the rebounding. Spurs already have their Barnes replacement in CB, though I'd welcome HB back on friendly deep bench contract.
 
East post-Lebron had a pretty nice three-way rivalry between Celtics-Bucks-Heat (2018-2023) but is now firmly back to one-contender (Celtics) fraudulent Conference status.

This is why we need (a) Top 4 of '26 Draft going to Eastern teams and (b) Wolves moved there after expansion.

I just feel that Wemby having recurring injury problems and Kornet needing someone better than Olynyk/ Biyombo/ Plumlee as a body that can rebound and defend and dunk to back him up ...and a long regular season ...makes it necessary for the Spurs to have one more capable backup for Wemby.

I prefer the term "BIG" and my ideal version for us is someone who can play both PF and C. I know this like wanting to have your cake and eat it to in some respects, but that's why I landed on Morez Johnson Jr as my preferred pick. He's sometimes listed as a wing for some reason, but I don't see that at all. Dude listed 6'9" 250 and allegedly has a 7'3" reach (the combine measurements may impact my viewpoint here.)

He can bang around, set screens, offer good rim protection, and also I do believe there is some shooting upside to be found, potentially. (78% ft/33% 3 on low volume.) He's a terrible playmaker but we have a gazillion of those already. If Wemby or Kornet goes down, he becomes the "small ball" center (6'9" isn't *that* small with his reach, and he's bigger than Carter), but he can also be subbed in at PF very comfortably. Others have commented that they haven't seen enough of his perimeter defense chops to be convinced, but at the very least he has the reputation of being able to switch and hold his own easily.

That said, I've watched him play like 40 minutes in total. I haven't (and likely won't) do a deep dive on our draft options this year but he sort of sticks out as someone who may be available and can kinda slide into a role I think we need. At pick 20 we're going to be gambling anyway, but since we're already a contender, it's like gambling with house money in a way. This is the very first time in a long time that I've ever felt the Spurs should draft for fit rather than BPA (unless we're particularly high on someone.)

Will be shocked if the Wolves close out Thursday night. Denver's gonna come back from 3-1. Would've been a different story if Donte and Ant were healthy. But that's how it goes.

I would love to be wrong on this.

If we can't get past the Nuggets with all their struggles, we have no chance against the Thunder.
Wemby outplaying Jokic would get him the best player in the world status.

Agreed Denver played like shit in this series. Losing badly even when Anthony Edwards wasn’t on the floor. And they’re going to be really tired from this back-and-forth battle that went the distance.
 
Since the discussion of trading KD reared its head here, I will offer a thought in this thread. Not a trade but we should look at Portland to see if there are any role players we might be interested in. If the new owner's cheapness extends to paying non-stars, maybe could snag one.
 
If KD is leaving Houston, I can’t understand why anybody would want him at this stage of the game? He’s never happy, he’s always playing these little games in the locker room. What’s the point?

He's a perfect basketball fit, but everything else makes him not worth it.
