NBA Official 2026 NBA Playoffs Thread

I'd rather deal Fox for Kawhi. Harper deserves to start, he's American so he's going to have more the attitude of James Harden than Manu.

Both have injury baggage, but Durant will be 38. A starting lineup of Wemby-Leonard-Vassell-Castle-Harper would be putting in work. You'd need to sign or trade for a backup guard though in that case. I think we could get Kawhi for free though.
I see KD as a more realistic oportunity and way cheaper also. In a Kawhi trade, the Spurs would need to give picks away, in a potential Fox-KD trade we would be the ones getting picks, or at least we wouldn't need to give away any.

Also, we would be keeping the Spurs motto of doing right by the player by sending him to his home town to a team with contender aspirations.

This Nuggets-Wolves series has a lot of parallels to the Spurs-Mavs series in ‘09. Former defending champ facing a hated rival that they had lost to in 7 games a few years earlier only to end up losing to the hated rival again except this time around in 5.

I also remember the Mavs deliberately tanking to face the Spurs in round 1 back in ‘09. I don’t think the Wolves tanked for the Nuggets but they definitely felt comfortable being the sixth seed and facing them.

Wolves have the same type of arrogance and supreme confidence against the Nuggets much like the Mavs did against the Spurs from ‘06-‘09.

For me beating the Mavs in ‘10 was the second best thing to winning a title because it felt good to beat them after all the trash they had been talking for those past few years about the Spurs and rubbing it in.
Shoutout to George Hill. He won that Game 4 for us in that series with his 29 points. The big 3 had nothing going offensively in that game. Spurs went up 3-1 and allowed us the close them out in 6. One of my favorite games of all time.

KD is a bitch and a locker room cancer, totally not Spurs like. Throw teammates under the bus, cannot stay away social media... no thank you. Don't want this dude having the slightest influence of Victor
I want to believe this season's happenings have finally humbled him.

Spurs aren't trading Fox for KD or Kawhi :st-lol:. Nephew is 35 with janky knees and he burned that bridge when he fucked us over in 2018 regardless, and KD is almost 38 and has too much baggage (although admittedly he'd be a great fit and a significant upgrade over Champ at the 4 tbh).

Fox will be a Spur for at least another 2 years imo (until the Expansion Draft at least). The question is going to be how do we use him next season because Dylan is too good to be coming off the bench for another year imo and I know he doesn't want to, and benching Castle doesn't make sense either. Maybe we get away with it for another season but I doubt it.

Yeah we should definitely add some of the worst locker room cancers in the league in KD and Kawhi to a team that won 60+ games with great chemistry tbh
It's such a perfect fit/oportunity, though.

-The on-court fit would be immaculate (Harper, Castle, Devin, KD, Wemby).

-You finally let the inevitable happen: get Harper to the starting lineup (also, I think we already have the backup G in our roster in Jones-García).

-The aforementioned cheap cost of getting KD, we might even get draft compensation out of it.

-KD's contract aligns perfectly with the extensions of Castle/Harper.

It's just so perfect everywhere.

Suspending Gobert would ensure this series goes at least 6. Then MIN would basically be in a must-win situation back home for that one because if they allow this thing to go back to DEN for a Game 7, Nuggets are advancing tbh.
Again, that shouldn't be a consideration. It's a very black and white rule. He either violated the rule and he's suspended, or he didn't, and he's not. Nothing else fucking matters.

It’s not a perfect fit because he’s a horrible locker room cancer tbh.

KD is a great on court fit everywhere he goes until he’s not then he quits. We know this tbh.

There's a reason he's called Durbeta. The Spurs and Rockets were on similar development arcs a year ago, and Houston is now a dumpster fire.

Can we add Dominick Burlow and call it a off season…No locker room cancer/distractions like KD/Kawhi/Draymond etc please

I felt he would be perfect fit as backup..

Why anyone would want to add Durant’s passive aggressiveness to a 62 win team where it’s chemistry and cohesiveness were big strengths is beyond me.

Why anyone would want Kawhi, Uncle Dennis, or their camp anywhere around Wemby is also baffling

Like I said, after this season's fiasco i'm sure he will cut it out with the burner accounts. Also, he would be joining a 60+ wins team with a clear alpha, and he's 40 years old. He's a psycho if he doesn't fall in line.

And truth be told, as long as his burners don't get leaked, he seems like a good enough locker room presence. He always said the right things when Westbrook used to sabotage OKC from within, and with the Rockets he had no problems untill his comments got leaked. His only true locker room beef was with Draymond, and we all know Green has problems with everyone.

If you aren't convinced that KD is a locker room cancer in 2026 heading into 2027...

Fool me once shame on me, fool me 30x across 5 different teams...I'm not sure what else to say tbh :st-lol:

I would go for Lebron before Durant.
Hard pass on Lebron too. Last thing I want is him sucking all the air out of the room during Wemby's ascension to BPITW and while we're trying to ring. Just not at all interested in that tbh, especially if next year is Lebron's retirement tour, in which case it'll be a media circus and a distraction.

Don't want KD either but he'd be a much better fit than Lebron based on his age, considerably better 3PT shooting, and better defense tbh.

Aside from the burner accounts, which are the examples of Durant being a locker room cancer? I'm honestly asking because I might be forgetting something, tbh. :st-lol:

FWIW, I think the only way Fox is still on the team after next season is the Spurs are gunning for a 3peat and they owe it to the team to try tbh.

The shitting all over his teammates from a burner account thing is a big one for me. That's just loser behavior, esp from a guy who's supposed to be your veteran team leader/Max player/Face of your franchise. The things he said weren't even wrong tbh, it's just the fact that he did it and was dumb enough to think people wouldn't catch on after he's already been exposed in the past for using burners :st-lol:

Then you have him demanding a trade to BKN before it imploded and he quit on them by demanding a trade to PHX and then it imploded and he quit on them and then he demanded a trade to the Spurs before being shipped to HOU instead and it imploded this season in large part to his burner scandal. And now he's quitting on his team in the Playoffs when they need him most and will likely be traded again this offseason. It's just a revolving door with him these days it seems. I will say that I don't blame him for the way his tenure in GS ended though. Draymond was much more to blame for that imho and even Curry to a lesser degree.

Again, that shouldn't be a consideration. It's a very black and white rule. He either violated the rule and he's suspended, or he didn't, and he's not. Nothing else fucking matters.
As others have already posted... the rules were changed a few years ago. He didn't violate the rule, because it's not the rule anymore.

Didn't know KD played for the Pelicans and they were contenders? I also just learned from you that Kawhi's originally born and raised in Canada and always wanted to play there. And I don't recall getting Nazr Mohammed from the 76ers in 2005, but you might be right. The more you know!

But in all seriousness.... what other example does this apply do than Paul George, umm, I meant George Hill?

He's such a perfect on court fit at an all-time low cost that I'm willing to take the risk, tbh.

I did say it was an extremely unpopular opinion, tbh. :st-lol:

We can and will do better than KD by the time we ship out Fox tbh. I'm not worried about that at all.

I just don't want one of the two biggest snakes of the last 15 years (the other being Nephew) anywhere near around Wemby unless it's at an all star game weekend tbh :st-lol:
