NBA Official 2026 NBA Playoffs Thread

I will not be deterred. Jokic could have easily gone 4-7 on Gobert's defense in the 4th. He had space and missed shots he normally makes.
i mean of course he could. most of the time when guarding elite offensive players, you arent going to force misses. all timers score on anybody and everybody. but its your job to make them take more difficult shots than usual and to an extent hope they dont go down. there were a few hard drives by jokic where he would barrel into Gobert's chest... and it was clear if he got that kind of contact on wemby, he probably would dislodge him out of the play and allow jokic to just quickly get a shot off the glass, whereas Rudy was able to resist that and force more difficult hooks than lay-ins.

i know you love bruce bowen (miss your old gif avatar), but if he forced kobe into a miss, its not like its a shot kobe couldnt have otherwise made

Nuggets kept the game close despite an awful game from Jokic. But maybe the Wolves can grind this series out and pull off a win.

Sputs have an okay matchup against the Nuggets but if either Kornet or Wemby get into foul trouble, the Spurs center rotation drops steeply after them.

The "back and forth" or "tough" series before to wear them out stuff doesn't really play a factor until late in the playoffs (WCF/Finals) IMO.

Unless one of these teams suffers a key injury in a game they wouldn't have played had they matched up against a lesser opponent, I actually think it's more of a disadvantage to the Spurs. Coming off a sweep or relatively easy 4-1 series against a Round2 opponent that's been playing high-level playoff ball for the last 6-7 games is a pretty tough ask especially if you can lose HCA in Game 1 tbh.
maybe, but jokic and murray looked tired in the 4th. if they keep playing 40mpg and this goes 7...

Still think Denver takes this series in 6 or 7. But Minnesota dragging it out would be huge, especially since it would mean Jokic is forced to play a lot of minutes.

Nah one of the universal rules of the playoffs is always that rest makes up for rust.

^Sean Sweeney landing spot tbh?
I'd love for him to stay another year, but if duty calls...

My hope is, if that happens, they replace him with another defensive guru Asst Coach.
Maybe Corliss, on the staff, has got the chops, but I'd still like to see someone with defensive innovation on staff.

end of an era. the warriors were going to be very good regardless but Kerr was one of the best coaches of this generation. designing an offense around curry's off-ball movement was genius. it was his decision to play draymond over david lee that was one of the early tone-setting decisions of his tenure.

i think these last few years he got a lot of criticism for over-relying on vets and not trusting/developing young guys, but now we've seen them give big minutes to younger guys like Podz, Santos, Moody, Post, and Richard. he just required more buy-in than the typical coach (hence the Kuminga situation).

the dubs were running out of steam when Klay started declining, and their decision to keep trying to get more vets like Butler/Horford/KP instead of rebuilding will always be questionable. yes, you could argue that this year's version of the team with a healthy Butler would have been great (and Curry himself barely played half the season), but thats part and parcel of building a team very reliant on old guys

maybe because he and draymond have a rift.
No just saw a video with Draymond and he was speaking about a moment Kerr had with him and Curry that sounded vey sincere. Says he's not sure he'll be back either. He did say it felt like the end of their run.

I just really thought kerr would stay on ghe warriors the way pop stayed on the spurs.

Apparently Todd Golden is their choice.

Kinda weird that they're not gonna stay in-house especially if they're gonna still push to contend with Curry/Draymond. But not that surprising considering Lacob is the one steering the ship tbh.

There's really no question about it. At the same time, I get @Mugen 's point....However, I would rather be the team that swept a team and waiting around at the practice gym..... than the team in a knock-down, drag-out 6 or 7 game series that might have to play the first game of the next series with little to no rest.

Who's the resident Wade fan in here? Iirc, it was @scott.
Or was it @OK Computer, I really can't remember.
Dean Wade is my guy!

Though I'm not sure he fits the mold of what the Spurs appear to want out of the PF position. He's definitely peaking at the right time (he's a FA this summer).

Gotta imagine this is wholly a Kerr decision, because I doubt Curry is super interested in a new coach and I doubt the club does anything without Steph's consent at this point.

Wonder what this could mean for Steph.

I have heard the Warriors are going to offer Steph an extension. I think Steph is going to play for a few years and go out the same way Kobe went out which is get a lot of money and be on a losing team and then have a farewell tour and call it quits.

Yeah thought this could have been signal that they were ready to blow it up. But I just can't see Steph asking out or being traded tbh. Would honestly suck to see it happen, he deserves to be a one teamer. Unless he wants to pull a Porky and go to Charlotte to finish it up.

will be very interesting. Curry is under contract next year, Butler has another 2 years on his deal, and Draymond has a 27mil player option coming up. KP has another year at 30mil. draymond has also said he expects to play another 3 years or so.

a lot of big questions

Curry said he plans on playing for at least few more years.
Doesn't seem to be the guy that would be interested in changing teams at 38 and he's still one of the biggest money makers in the league, Warriors just have to keep the team at least somewhat competitive.
