NBA Official 2026 NBA Playoffs Thread

What were they thinking looking at almost locked on Wolves/Spurs/OKC/Celtics path to a Championship with the last three series without HCA? yeah Spurs shat the bed last game, but you could have still pushed the tank harder..
what were we thinking giving okc 2 byes and wanting to paly one of these two in second round ?

we set ourselves to go up against the last three nba champs back to back to back. Dumb organization
So you believe the Spurs will face Nuggets, Thunder, and then the Celtics in the Finals? Only reason I ask is because I think the Celtics will not get to the Finals.

I just want the Nuggets - Wolves series to go 7 games, so whoever we face in round 2 is exhausted already. Both teams are bad matchups for us, but beatable.

I'd still prefer Minnesota because we can completely ignore Gobert on defense, since they never pass him the ball cause of his bad hands. They don't have a PG and you can force Ant into taking bad shots. When their shooting is off they are terrible, which led to them losing plenty of games against inferior teams in the regular season.

Beating Denver would be tougher since Joker shoots 3s and they can play 5 out. Also Valanciunas and Tim Hardaway always go off against us. Their defense is not good, but they give us a lot of trouble on the other end and they are a team that won a ring before. Gordon and Murray were tired in crunch time with their shortened rotation, let's hope they run them into the ground in this series.

Jokic is obviously great but i think he had a hard time one on one with Wemby last game and now he's kinda struggling against Gobert.

and really, i didn't remember Denver being FT merchant. playing denver and OKC back to back on PO would be hard to bear. That's becoming really annoying how easily some players are drawing fouls...... it's not bball anymore.

some games are just 3's chucking and foul baiting.......

well, let's try to win the next game against Portland first, it wasn't so easy on the first game....

wow I didn't realize this....DEN, OKC, BOS. 2023 champ, 2025 champ, 2024 champ.

Man....if we win....this playoffs run would be legendary.

Wemby can steal LeBum's line when he refers to his 2016 finals comeback down 3-1 to the 73 wins GSW (that right there, make me the Greatest of ALL TIME)

Damn, I'll have to watch the full replay, good to see Wolves will make it competitive.

I would rather twolves as well but it's going to be a dog fight either way. Jokic creates more questions than Ant at the end of the day and he kinda works out defenses as he goes deeper against the team.

I think most of the non spurs fan base really don't want this to happen. If it happens, Wemby is the best, and parity no longer exists while he is healthy. To do this in year 3 would be beyond absurd.

To be Fair, Twolves looked stronger than Nuggets to me in this series.

In 1st game as well refs gave every call possible to Nuggets otherwise Twolves would have won that too.

I felt like the Spurs tanked the end of season game against Denver, sure, but it was like a version of the Prisoner's Dilemma. Anyone would have expected the Nuggets to want to lose the game. Instead they rode Valanciunas who was killing us.

The clear play for the Nuggets was to lose that game, get the far better first round opponent, and guarantee they only face two of MIN-SAS-OKC instead of all three, if they have to make it through.

So, both teams fucked it up.

Good to see Minnesota steal one of the first two in Denver. Really need that series to go at least 6 games regardless of who wins it tbh. A grueling 7-game series would obviously be ideal.

Assuming we advance, either of those teams would be a really tough out. Jokic and Denver's offense are truly elite (literally the highest Offensive Rating in NBA history this season when he's on the floor), and Jokic's ability to shoot the 3 pulls Wemby away from the rim, but them being 21st in Defensive Rating also makes them more vulnerable on that end.

Minnesota would be a little easier to game-plan for due to Gobert's offensive ineptitude, but defensively their size, physicality, and length always give us issues, and they'd likely beat our guys up in the process. Ant can also detonate at any moment which makes them all the more dangerous.

Hard to choose one tbh. Either way it'd likely be a long, grueling 6 or 7 game series. Not ideal. The good news is we'd have HCA either way and I feel (relatively) good about our prospects against either.

Gotta take care of Portland first though. Hopefully we get a win tonight to go up 2-0 and then a little adversity on the road wouldn't be worst thing to get us prepared for the next round tbh.

Hot take: I'd rather play the Nuggets.

Timberwolves exploit two of our biggest weaknesses, 3pt defense and Kornet's lack of mobility.
