NBA Official 2026 NBA Playoffs Thread

It’s a shame that OKC won’t have to face either of these teams.

Gobert and McDaniels absolutely shut down the nuggets. It was beautiful to watch
But but but according to some poster gobert didnt do a great job on jokic and he was just missing shots.

So we’re overrated and not as good as our record? 60 win spurs teams of the past would smoke these teams.
Hard to say we'll see. Winning 60 wins doesn't always make you as good as you believe you are. For example the '11 Spurs won over 60 but it was a fools gold team that ended up losing to the Grizzlies in round 1. I know some people will say if Manu didn't get hurt they would have won that series but ultimately that team overall wasn't good enough to go on a deep playoff run.

Some people say Manu’s broken arm affected the outcome. Hahaha

What’s crazy is Mike Conley is still playing.

I feel either team would be a challenge for the Spurs. Jokic can somewhat neutralize Victor's defense with his center of gravity. The Wolves are very gritty physical team that never gives up and have given the Spurs problems this year in coming back from I believe in 2 games where the Spurs were up by 20. It's hard for me to pick which team I would rather want to see.

Definitely Tpups for us.

Joker neutralizing Vic's defense and also luring Vic into foul trouble is the most damaging issue for us.

Tpups have Ant but at least we still can throw mixture of Castle/Harper/CB/Vassell on him. We can also throw KJ and CB on Randle. Most importantly, Vic stays on the floor as the last line of defense with no foul trouble issues

For Denver, if Vic is out due to foul trouble, there is no one else to stop Joker....unless we front him and use double team on him, which will just make Murray and the rest go nuclear on us

They might have won that series if Manu's arm wasn't broken but I don't think they could have won it all that year with crappy frontline they had of Blair, Bonner, Dice. That was an awful frontline paired with Tim. The Grizzlies really exposed how bad that frontline was with Gasol and Z-Bo abusing those guys that it made Pop give up on Blair, and forced Dice into retirement. Bonner also then got relegated to a bench player that hardly played after that series when he used to get a lot of minutes in the rotation from '08-'11. That series was a wake up call for Pop who was stubborn by sticking to what we call the turd towers in Blair/Bonner for those few years from '08-'11. It forced him to change.

While both of these teams would be a challenge, I'm confident against either one for one reason: Wemby is this alien creature that rapidly, learns, adapts... dare I say... evolves to his situation like nothing we've ever witnessed.

OKC is the only team that gives me real worry simply because of their depth and they have a player whom the league has decided to cater all the rules around.

They present unique challenges but our one constant no matter what else is happening tends to be wemby warping the game defensively.

Denver is the only team that takes that away
I don’t disagree. But they’re so shit defensively that we could just live in the paint against them and just dare Joker to average 40 against the best defensive player of all time over the course of a series tbh.

Whereas Minnys offensive ceiling is still pretty high when they’re not dumbing it up. And their defense is leagues above Denver.

It’s a toss up tbh

Ok, so this still is planet earth. We have way too much depth for these teams, and as you said, Wemby gets better by the minute. We probably lose to the Thunder in 7.

Still think it comes back 2-2 and Game 5 winner decides it. Fun series, best of the first round for sure.

I’ll take the TWolves matchup over a Nuggets one, tbh. The Nuggets play against Wemby as if Wemby’s human, while other teams (including OKC) are awestruck by Wemby’s true form.

Gasol and Z-Bo were a huge mismatch, and neither Denver or the Wolves present anything close to that challenge today. Despite that, Manu’s broken arm was the difference. We simply won when he was healthy.

And a mere 2 years later that Spurs obliterated Gasol and Z-Bo just buy having Splitter next to Duncan and Kawhi on the wings.

Good times.

Spurs also added Diaw, Baynes. Those 2 guys were huge upgrades over the trash the Spurs had 2 years earlier when they lost to the Grizzlies.

Yes, our Championship teams were awesome, and would smoke these two teams. Hence, if we can’t beat both these teams we are far away from winning a championship, and would convince me let Castle or Harper loose for Giannis.

Spurs did upgrades everywhere to their team from 2011 while the Grizzlies got rid of their Spurs killers from 2011 (Battier, Vasquez, Mayo).
