NBA Official 2026 NBA Playoffs Thread

Wouldn't be surprising as their C rotation can definitely be exposed. I just don't think the Pistons nor the Knicks have enough ballhandlers/playmakers to survive Boston's perimeter defense tbh. If Cade and Brunson are slowed, I'm not sure who picks up the slack on their respective teams.
I don't see why the Knicks can't survive their perimeter defense. They were able to do it last year plus this year they don't have Jrue Holiday which is why I think it will be easier for the Knicks to beat them.

I also think Tatum will get exposed in the playoffs. He's been shooting shitty percentages since he came back and I don't see that changing. Celtics are just winning games because of their depth but in the playoffs I don't think their depth will be able to cover up Tatum's inefficiency.

If Harper really is good to go and the Spurs right the ship in Round 1 (sweep or 5 game series), then I'll go back to being confident about the Nuggets matchup. I think they'll need some double big lineups or rely on Carter to give them real good minutes in that series tbh.

We only played the nuggets with Wemby once this year and it was an OT thriller on the road. I’m not slitting my wrist over it but it’s obviously a worse bracket with them at 3 instead of 4

But the wolves won’t be a cakewalk first round for them either.

Wemby powering thru Brooks and the Suns would be a nice tone setting first round.

Silver lining is whoever wins Denver/Minne is going to be pretty banged up tbh.

Just excited, hope we can fast forward to game 1.

Anthony Edwards tends to play inspired basketball against the Nuggets. We just have hope he has a series where he pushes them to the limits like he did a few years ago.

We might be in a dogfight with Phoenix. That’s why I’m hoping the Guests can beat them in their play in game. Guaranteed to have 2 more grueling matchups if we make it out of the 1st round.

To everyone preaching doom and gloom:

The Spurs have lost TWICE since February 1 with Wemby playing.

A 25 pt loss at the tail end of the rodeo road trip in NY
And
A 2 pt overtime road loss in Denver where Wemby missed a game winner.

Picking Nuggets over Spurs in 5. I'm completely shook by this match-up, i admit it. The players appear to have lost belief against them. Just couldn't stop them all season long no matter who is out there
Spurs beat nuggets in nba cup without wemby

It’s going to be funny reading all the doom and gloom about a Denver - SA series in two weeks when we are playing Minnesota in the second round
That would be funny if it happens granted I think then everybody will be hating Anthony Edwards since he has had some great games against the Spurs this season.

Have watched too much basketball to know from our own history since we used to be the wily veteran team schooling various up-and-comers during our run that the most likely outcome for this team is to be on the receiving end of such treatment at the hands the Nuggets in round 2 : out-executed and out-thought by the more seasoned contender.

It can go either way we also lost to an inexperienced Thunder team back in '12 after going up 2-0 against them.

2012 wasnt kd/rus/harden first playoff appearance. It was their 3rd. They definitely had the experience.

The only difference is this “no experience” spurs team won 62 games.

Im honestly not concerned about any first round match up right now though Id prefer the Blazers.

Think we should sweep either or lose 1 game max.

Even though OKC had 2 years of playoff experience I felt back then the Spurs playoff experience dwarfed their experience by a huge margin and it showed the first two game since OKC looked flustered. They surprised me by being able to regroup after going back home. I thought the Spurs would beat them with their experience much like the older Jazz teams did to the Shaq Lakers during the late 90's.

2010 thunder is the right comparison. 3rd season of durant copmapred to 3rd season of wemby, same wth castle/westbrook and harden/harper. But obviously 2026 spurs is much better team cause they won 62 games and finished 2nd while the 2010 thunder won 50 games and finished as 8th seed.

But still that 2012 thunder had the playoff experience and their core were entering their prime. That was durant 5th season.

Typically a team with a 2 years of playoff experience doesn't beat an elite or championship team that has many years of experience. That's the way I viewed it form a historical perspective back in '12. The Shaq Lakers couldn't beat the Malone Jazz teams despite having a few years of playoff experience. The Jordan bulls could not beat the Pistons at first despite having a few years of playoff experience. That's why again I was surprised the '12 Thunder team was able to come back and win that series against the Spurs.

It depends, Curry and the warriors won the title in 2015 after only 2 years of playoff experience(12-13 and 13-14).

2012 thunder reached the finals.

I'm in the camp that the Spurs will regret not being able to knock the Nuggets down to the 4th seed given 2 late season opportunities. At least the Spurs will learn some valuable lessons and gain some playoff experience against the Nuggets.
