NBA Kawitters Legacy taking another hit

The Nets have about $15 million in cap space. Some teams have some of their MLE left, but that’s it. I doubt the Nets would be all that interested. He wouldn’t get much.
If Kawhi's deal was voided early I could have seen him sign with BKN for the max they could manage, to be able to trade him at the deadline... but the time has passed to sign and be trade eligible this season, so he'd probably end up signing for the minimum with a contender or just sitting out until next summer.

Well then, the CBA is way worse than I thought since I never carefully looked into that side of things.

Anyhow, he's 34, always injured and not worth the trouble anymore.
Imo, he should be suspended without pay for 2 years, the remaining duration of his contract and Clippers should have those $50M he's supposed to earn frozen in their cap space, not being able to use it.
Take away 2 or 3 of their FRPs on top of it, but that's a delicate matter since they don't own their '26 pick, OKC has '27 swap, they don't own '28 and PHI has '29 swap. Taking away 2030s picks when this situation will be long resolved would be franchise ruining to the point where they might aswell forcibly relocate the team.

Maybe take away those '27 and '29 swapped picks they'll get.
Unfortunate that putting the hammer down on LAC now might just end up helping OKC.

at this point, if the league doesnt act, every owner in the league will be on notice that they can absolutely get away with this shit with impunity even in the face of incredibly strong evidence

silver's comments yesterday that even a "smoking gun" might not be enough, combined with his asinine remarks directing fans to go watch highlights on youtube in the face of ever-decreasign accessibility of games, have brought him to a new low tbh.

i wasnt big on the silver hate wagon, but he's gotta be the worst commissioner in sports right now
Podcasts were laughing at him for commenting, and then Pablo dropping more evidence in a new pod. He just needs to STFU, and let the law firm they hired do the investigation.

Coming up next... Nephew goes on a Podcast and basically admits to it...

Silver: Idk if that's enough to do anything about this...

Another payment by Ballmer :ROFLMAO:

I mean at this point has Steve Ballmer spent any money at all on anything other than to facilitate under the table payments to Kawhi :ROFLMAO:

In October we will learn that the entire Intuit Dome was built only because Kawhi demanded it be built cause he wanted to have a big ass wall of fans to look at while he sits on the bench hurt

I can't wait for the next stage... "I'm so rich, I don't know where all these payments go... it was my assistant's fault"

All these payments. I don’t see how Kawhi gets anything other than a lifetime suspension. You cannot take under the table payments to this degree and volume and get to come back like it was a fistfight or you finger banged a teammates wife.

This is as bad and arguably worse than gambling.

Tbh, fair argument since 50 million is like 0.0003% of his wealth.

Nephew shitting on his own legacy because he can’t wipe his own ass (shoutout BB). Well deserved

And the hits just keep on comin'.....

Due to the complexity of this and the Federal Investigation, I bet this takes 9-12 months to resolve. For reference, the Sarver investigation took 10 months.

In the meantime, the Clippers are gambling with house money. This scandal could actually galvanize this team as this season is quite possibly their last to contend for a championship for quite some time.

He’s fucking dogging them like he did us. Latest is that even though Ballmer paid them $50M, the company was in such bad shape they burned though that, and couldn’t make the first fucking payment of $1.75M. Kawhi basically sat out everything for 3 months, until that Wong guy paid the fake tree company $1.99M to cover the $1.75M payment to Kawhi. After that payment was made in December, Kawhi played 82% of the remaining games. He’s a fucking scumbag, even worse than I thought.

Clippers need to lose picks and have their cap space frozen, but nephew was the instigator and he must be suspended for the duration of his contract. Otherwise the wrong message of players and their agents being able to do whatever they want will be sent.

This shit is cray cray.
I'm going to lose my shit if this gets swept under the rug.

The one thing I don’t like about going nuclear on the Clips now (like lifetime banning their best player when healthy) is that it doesn’t hurt them alone; it bolsters OKC because they oh so smartly own LAC’s immediate future. Obviously that makes taking their post-OKC picks away (I think that starts in 2029), but penalizing Neff, which I absolutely believe is warranted, might do more harm then good.

Would be funny if the league could say to Ballmer: pay us 29B to distribute amongst everyone else or we’re going to force you to sell. Obviously that’s not in the cards, but I do think they need to be mindful of actually penalizing LAC as opposed to bolstering OKC. No idea how you do that.

You are 2 legit.
2 legit to quit.

Pablo Torre: Good morning. According to 9 sources with direct knowledge of the deal, Clippers owner Steve Ballmer personally invested another $10M into Aspiration in March 2023 — the same month Kawhi Leonard was owed his quarterly payment. (First reported by The Athletic.)

Hi @PabloTorre, I suspect that social media is not the best place to hash this all out and don't remember an "Aspiration Investment Committee" but nothing in this statement conflicts with what I wrote yesterday

Good evening. You don't "remember" a lot about what happened at Aspiration, it seems. But I strongly recommend the opinion of the Hon. Lewis J. Liman, in the Southern District of New York, in the federal case that was explicitly cited in the statement I posted.

Because he does:

A letter signed by the former CFO, COO, CTO & CLO of Aspiration, declaring that it was a cap circumvention.

C'mon, Silver. Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles & Jose Feliciano can all see what's going on . . . and Ray Charles is dead!

Cubes back to being an insufferable POS the way he's defending the Clippers right now.

The illogical but easier way out for the league is to somehow put the blame all on Kawhi and Dennis. That would allow Silver not to have to confront Ballmer, which he seems afraid to do. I'm not opposed to that just because I hate Kawhi. In this theory, I'm not saying I know how they would actually try to pull that off because it would be a sleight of hand, but that's kind of what I'm expecting, to some degree.

The crime was committed against the other owners - they will insist that some price be paid by the Clippers. Of course, Ballmer could give each of them $50 million and still retain over 99% of his net worth.
