NBA Kawitters Legacy taking another hit

Balmer invested in Aspiration less than a month after re-signing KL. This was years after being traded to Toronto.

Balmer invested 1 year before? Is that when he was still on the Spurs or Raptors?
He had just finished faking an entire year of injury, hiding from the Spurs and their reps in NY. If they set up that company at that time, they were probably talking to Dennis while he was under contract with the Spurs.

I’m pretty sure Kawhi was asking for a trade to LA during that last season with the Spurs. Before the Spurs shipped him to Toronto. Knowing Uncle Dennis he was already colluding.

Second part, yes, but even in the Spring, Kawhi was lying, saying he wanted to stay. There was no trade request, or thought they would trade him until the one on one with Pop in the summer.

I remember that little fagg*t going to a Dodgers game with Magic. During the playoffs.

He’s in New York somewhere rehabbing waiting for the quarterly payment to hit.

Elhasson on there saying Kawhi/Dennis "never forgot" that spurs made him wait for his 2nd contract instead of extending him after year 3 (this maneuver enabled us to land Aldridge the following year)

theyre discussing the claims that clippers were recruiting kawhi as early as 2017

Well, I finally had a question answered that had bothered me. The big offensive thing the Spurs did was to ask Kawhi to not extend in 2014, but sign a new contract in 2015 so they could sign LMA. That’s it.

Jerry West was dirty to the extreme. There had been movement to change the NBA logo, which I was always against, but they can change it to Epstein for all I care. This also makes it very likely that there was some back channel shit in the Pau Gasol trade to the Lakers. It’s funny how West went from surreptitiously helping the Lakers, to shit talking them.

funny how lakers had marc gasol and sent him to memphis as part of that trade though

Funny how he was the fat younger brother with zero track record picked in the second round. No one thought he was anything, including the Lakers. Memphis lucked out.

Not surprised with the Clippers and Lakers recruiting Kawhi while under contract with the Spurs.

I suppose that could be the reason Kawhi and Uncle Dennis decided to sit out 17-18, because their request for a trade to LA wasn’t accepted by the Spurs. The injury stuff seemed to be BS from the start.

I recall hearing a few years ago that this in particular was something that Kawhi didn't like (might have even been timvp, RIP, who said this?). Have heard other commentators also mention that what the Spurs did here is a practice that tends to rub players and agents the wrong way (and that is understandable since it adds an element of risk to a player getting an extension that they would rather avoid).

I never thought that this would be *the* thing that caused the split though... wild if so. You'd think that if it's that big of a deal, the player and agent would make it known at the time at which point the team can decide on whether or not that's the star they want to continue to build around or if maybe they should start thinking of other options. At the same time, from an organizational standpoint you sure as shit want to have your star player's blessing before doing this kind of move. That part is so obvious that I'd be shocked if the Spurs didn't think they had Kawhi's blessing. Perhaps Kawhi signed off but because he's unable to use his words to share his feelings he secretly resented the team for it.

The thing is, the Spurs take care of their own. They would have signed him to a MAX contract in 2015, even if he blew his knee out that season. I just think that whole family is so twisted that they couldn’t understand or accept that.

Him being upset about the extension / LMA signing came out after the Raptors trade tbh. I think Michael C. Wright reported it.

Or he's full of shit and wanted an excuse to move back to LA. the entire time knowing he was going to get bullshit deals like this one. I try to believe people generally act in good faith but this fucker has lost that benefit of the doubt.

If that crap is the excuse that came out, I’m sure reality is that the spurs were so clean in their dealings that even uncle Dennis and nephew couldn’t come up with a better excuse to save face.

I’m 90% sure they were strong arming their way to LA, got denied, fake injuries, blamed Tony, and bolted to LA the first chance they got. The basketball Gods eventually wrecked his knees, but fell asleep and gave him that injury ladened championship.

Without Kawhi, the Spurs probably lose in round 2 in 2012, don't get past the Warriors in 2013, and definitely don't come close to sniffing a championship in 2014. Maybe even a first round out. The Duncan era peters out with a whimper and a very distant memory of a 2007 championship that never got retribution.

Be more appreciative. George Hill was a streaky player who was a scrappy defender and had Kobe's number to a large extent, but the Spurs weren't going anywhere with that 2009-2011 core which included Hill, Jefferson, Bogans, McDyess (even though I liked the guy), heavy dose of the turd towers etc.
