PG forced his way out of Indy. Are you seeing the pattern here?

Player A becomes disgruntled and forces his way out.
Presti benefits in a major way.
Player B becomes disgruntled a few years later, and walks away from his championship squad, but as a condition of signing with his new team, demands they gut their team for player A.
Presti again benefits in a major way.

It would be like giving BW genius status for getting Fox. That never happens if Fox doesn’t push his way out.
you gotta give Presti credit for getting PG to OKC in the first place.

Spurs are draft and develop team.

It starts and end there.
I mean they literally just traded for Fox. So they're obviously not above making trades for the betterment of the team, but it would have to be a deal where we're bending the other team over imo (much like the Fox trade).

Really don't see them trading one of Castle/Harper + Vassell + Barnes + FRP's/Swaps (which is what it'd cost, and what would be necessary to match salaries) for a 31 year-old Giannis who's had a ton of injuries the past 2 seasons and is showing signs of wearing down.

Also, Brian Wright's already said they're not going to take any shortcuts in this rebuild. They're going to be patient and build it the right way. I think they also know we're not there yet in terms of realistically competing for a Championship, so they wouldn't do anything drastic like this tbh. We're in the middle of the (soon to be) OKC dynasty right now. The Spurs window to ring starts in 2 years tbh.

Every legit team is a draft and develop teams. Unless you're the Lakers and are constantly gifted all-time greats
Thunder, Nuggets, Rockets all did the same thing.
Draft their core, get a couple of veterans and get an all-star in a trade.
Spurs did the same, we'll see how far it gets us over the next few seasons.

Thunder traded for their core though. I realize their record without Shai is still very good. But the core begins with him and he wasn’t the result of being conservative and measured

Are you sure teams that aren't good at developing talent would've turned SGA into an MVP level player?
He got there after his solid, but nothing special rookie year.

Their rotation consists of 7 players they drafted, one reclamation project (Joe), one FA signing (Hartenstein) and a veteran they traded for (Caruso).
And they also have Sorber in line to replace Hartenstein when their cap situation becomes tricky.

"my favorite döner kebap man said this is a done deal" :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

It's not a döner deal until we get an official Zhang bang.
If it were true, there would be benefit in seeing OKC possibly losing to the Rockets. The downside, of course, would be Houston winning the WCF.

Hypothetically, I think it's the move the Rockets need to make.
Sengun is an all-star and a great player, but he's big who's a negative on defense, despite his best efforts. And that just doesn't work in the modern NBA.

I'd even say that Amen is not living up to the superstar hype. At this point he looks like Iguodala in his early years.

I mean they're 15-6 with Sengun their best player in a brutal west. I think he's working pretty well myself and if I'm Houston I'm not giving Milwaukee much else if they're getting Sengun. Sengun is so much better than anything the Bucks should realistically expect to get back.

they don't have the shooting to make Giannis work regardless. Adams, Amen and Sengun can't play next to him. They would be stupid to trade for him.

It works in the regular season, last season they couldn't even get past the Warriors with him.
I know KD wasn't there, but it's not like Warriors were a legit contender.

This is top notch work and I want to make sure you get proper acknowledgement.

I hope HOU does that deal for Giannis. It would considerably shorten their window.

Giannis is a guy that Wemby matches up and gets up for. I ain't skerred.

Warriors were blazing hot at the time and it was the Rockets first trip to the playoffs. I imagine there's a real chance the Spurs as playoff virgins get their asses kicked in the first round if they're facing a veteran team that has been there before too.

Sengun is a good player but he is very soft after what Draymond did to him in the playoffs. I put him on the King's Sabonis tier of greatness.

Shai has DNA we’ve never seen before. He’s why I hear about Peterson and am like “yeah but if his shot doesn’t fall what then”. The thing about Shai is that he is one of the all time greats at reliably getting to his spot. I don’t think OKC taught him that. If you listen to him talk about his game, he’s a total psycho who realizes his gifts.

To your point though. He wasn’t Shai when they got him, I get it. But he wasn’t Shai destined to become Shai.

There isn't a single GM in the league who would take Sabonis over Sengun right now. Not even the bad ones.
His money is atrocious, but I don’t see anything basketball wise that merits such an absolute statement. I mean, HOU had to bring in Steven Adam’s, because Sengün was such a mid rebounder.

come on man. Sengun is a much better offensive engine than Sabonis it’s now even close. Sabonis can rebound better and that’s it, he’s an even worse defender than sengun and sengun isn’t even that bad on defense. He’s just not great.

Sabonis >> Sengün. He’s been to multiple ASGs, plus a couple of All NBA selections. He’s a better shooter and rebounder than Alpie.
Please clarify this take. When you say "Sabonis >> Sengun", are you referring to their body of work in their respective careers thus far? Or their current ability? Or their impact on their respective teams this season? I especially like the usage of ">>", as I would even consider "Sabonis = Sengun" to be a pretty hot take.

EDIT:
Just for the record, here is a summary of some of the evidence that argues against your point, but I'm curious to hear your side of this
