I was wondering, which 8 contracts we would protect, if there was an expansion draft tomorrow?

Wemby, Harper, Castle, Bryant,...

???

well opinions on some players like Vassell and Keldon have swung pretty wildly given their performances 4 games into the season

but Vic/Harper/Fox/Castle/Bryant/Kornet seem like obvious ones. if you think those 2 have played themselves into warranting protection, then its that. only other guys worthy of consideration would be Champagnie because he will still only cost 3 mil next year

it would be kind of scammy if champanie were included considering hes due more money if he were picked. with fox back champ is clearly not going to get major minutes assuming you are keeping castle and vassell in yr line ups.

It blows my mind how many of you are completely fine with getting rid of an all-NBA guard under 30
I'm not fine with it...but if Harper projects like we want him to, eventually he is going to need to get paid and Fox theoretically becomes expendable. This became the case the moment that the Spur landed the number 2 pick.

As I said, I'm not saying we need to pull that trigger now. There is still a long time to see how things pan out. If they can make it work, great.

If Harper doesn't lose minutes with Fox back, he's going to get real 6MOTY consideration.
Brogdon got it with 14.9/4.2/3.7/0.7 with Quickley 2nd at 14.9/4.2/3.4/1
Naz went 13.5/5.2/1.3/0.8/0.9 with Monk 2nd at 15.4/2.9/5.1/0.6
Pritchard 14.3/3.8/3.5/0.9 with Beasley 2nd at 16.3/2.6/1.7/0.9

Harper's at 14.8/5.3/4.8/1.0 those are 6MOTY numbers and it doesn't look like a fluke, seems like he'll improve. Heard on a podcast today he's top10 in the NBA in shots at the rim playing 26mpg.
IMO our best case scenario is him playing the Harden 6th man role for a couple of years and trade Fox when Harp is just too good to come off the bench/play behind Fox.

At some point, he’ll have to go, probably 2-3 years down the road. You would hope that your pair of top 4 picks both pop, and if they do, we cannot pay a 35%,30%, and two 25% deals. You move off the oldest player.
