Player BREAKING: Wemby Expected to Miss Multiple Weeks with Left Calf Strain

Below is the schedule, up to December 8th that would be 11 games missed. I know the schedule has us not playing a game until December 17th against the Wizards, but someone correct me if I'm wrong but we will have at least 2 games between the New Orleans and Washington game right? Depending on how the Cup shapes out?

I don’t think it’s that bad of a strain. Spurs said it happened during the Warriors game and he finished the game and looked fine. Harper was immediately taken out of the game and was in a walking boot 10 minutes later.

I assume just being extra cautious, he was even labeled as questionable before the game yesterday instead of being ruled out from the jump.
He was questionable yesterday due to calf tightness. Now the MRI done this morning showed a grade 1 strain despite Vic "feeling fine", sometimes it be like that.

Wemby gonna be the perennial GOAT of "he would've won DPOY if he was eligible".
This is sad news :st-depressed: Hopefully he's back for Xmas OKC double header but we'll see.

Luke Kornet about to earn that contract.

Just gotta hope they can play ~.500 ball with Vic out, won't be easy but it is possible if guys lock in. Harper coming back in the next 10-14 days would be awesome as well.

I had a few calf strains (obviously nowhere near the level of athlete these guys are with their freakish abilities and athleticism), but I just played through it. Have any of you guys had calf injuries that lingered or had a more serious injury off of one? If they're going to start sitting NBA players now for these, it could really affect the NBA as a product overall.

Unreal. Season could be over before it even really got started :(.
only thing that I have ever experienced has been tightness. I only ball once a week in an old man's league, so I just took one week off on my own. another player in my league went to a chiropractor and went through some intense therapy for a couple of weeeks and he's been great since.

First of all, does he even have calves? I guess technically, yes. Second, why is everyone so surprised about the timeline? Harper has been out for the same injury, and Wemby isn’t even wearing a boot. Publicly available medical knowledge says recovery takes 2 to 8 weeks. Harper still hasn’t returned from a calf strain since November 4th. Finally, stuff happens.

So he wont get a supermax extension right?
"To be eligible for a Super-Max contract, a player must have between 7 and 9 years of NBA service, have been with the same team since signing their rookie contract, and have achieved one of the following awards: named to an All-NBA team, won MVP, or been named Defensive Player of the Year."

Sorry if someone else answered first, but thought this would be a good job just to make it clear for everyone.

Wemby will undoubtably sign a rookie supermax extension this coming summer, regardless of what awards he wins this season.

The Rookie Supermax is based around what happens in year 4 (unless the player wins MVP, but that has never happened and isn't going to happen here so we won't worry about it). So even if Wemby won DPOY this season, he would still need to qualify for the Supermax NEXT season.

A lot of people incorrectly state that Jalen Williams qualified for a supermax by making All-NBA last season, but in fact he has not - he only signed a contract that allows the Supermax to kick in if he qualifies *this season* (and his opportunities to do so are dwindling since he's already missed 14 games).

Yeah, you could clearly see Harper's one was worse by his reaction IMO. I couldn't tell anything was wrong with Vic if it happened during the Warriors game.

Thanks. I will read that now.

Sucks but really what I expected when I saw the words Calf tightness. It’s just worse reading about it materialize.

Never going to make the playoffs if players sit out multiple week every time for strains.

I get it though, I guess this the new norm. I mean strains and sorness used to be pretty much a normal part of the grind that got played through most of the time.

Thanks for your thoughts on it. Maybe because we don't exert extreme pressure on it like some of these NBA athletes would, it's not that big a deal for us. I think all mine (from what I can remember - it's been a long while since I had one) was sore and also some pain when pushing off on it and not being able to jump normally, but again, back in those days, I didn't think nothing of it and just kept playing.

It does make me wonder how many games Kobe and Jorden would have been made to sit out had they played in today's game
