Anybody still uses the ancient media of books?

Just finished reading Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother’s Will to Survive by stephanie land. It’s about a biographic view of the authors experience living below the poverty line, and the difficulty of getting out of poverty despite all the work she does.

Some parts could be repetitive and boring, and there are certainly parts where I read it and felt there were poor decisions made that led to where she’s at, and it is most definitely written from her own point of view and I wonder what the people on the other side thinks, but it does clearly highlight the issue of social support in the US, and how poor people are being unfairly discriminated against.

Not sure if this counts as political talks but if so please feel free to delete.

I also read two books by Timothy Snyder, on freedom and on tyranny. Probably way more political so not going to delve too much in them.

Just ordered Kirk Goldsberry's books and Shea Serrano's "Expensive Basketball"

Unfortunately every book I've read in the last two years had some connection to work, so no novels in a while. But I definitely prefer actually turning the pages, crimping the corners of the passages you want to go back to, and appreciating holding the actual paper in your hands.

For some reason reading a printed book for 3 hours versus staring at a screen makes me a lot less tired...and I tend to retain a lot more of what I just read.

This is so good.

And thats the worst book of the series, by a decent margin.

Fwiw, Martian Reds are the descended form Irish survivors who'd fled the Isles after the events of WW III because they were rendered radioactive. Hence the choice of accent for the AB reader.
Just finished Golden Son. Really enjoyable series... I'm just a slow reader :st-lol:

Got a round trip to the mainland (5.5 hours each way) and Japan (9 hours each way) coming up... expecting to really get caught up
