I haven't really looked much at their news reports...I wonder how many citations the company has been issued and how that works.

I got caught behind one that stopped in the middle of the street backing traffic up to let passengers out. Any real driver would have pulled into the parking lot to let them out. I also wonder if they'll ever work stuff like that out too.

here in Vegas i see a lot of the amazon robotaxis. they look hilarious

I will never get in a Waymo after seeing one drive extremely recklessly last year in Phoenix. I can’t believe people are so willing to be guinea pigs for this shit

Shit they still haven't even figured out school bus stops

My Waymo story:

Used them in LA last fall. At one point, took one to my hotel near LAX. It dropped me off in a weird cul-de-sac next to a by-the-hour kind of motel a quarter mile away from my hotel. Apparently this is the designated "Waymo spot" for the area. Weird, but okay...

I call a Waymo later to take me to where I was going (was considerably cheaper than Uber/Lyft) and it wants me to go back to that same sketchy spot to be picked up. It's still daylight, so I'm not too concerned about it. Wait there for my Waymo, which finally arrives, drives around the cul-de-sac a few times and then drives off. App says it couldn't pick me up. Call another one... same thing happens. I call support, they tell me the car didn't think it was safe to pick me up so it left.

Really outstanding work. Haven't gotten in one again since. I actually thought they were pretty nice, tbh.

It thinks it's fine to drop you off in a seedy area but doesn't think it's fine to pick you up.
