I believe Harper also has a chance to put up these number if he was drafted Wizards or some other bad teams.
 
Harper can only wish to enjoy a fraction of the minutes, usage, and greenlight Flagg and Knueppel have, which is why he had close to no shot at ROTY (Flagg took 29 shots tonight for his career high 49pts). On the flipside, Dylan will beat both first to taste meaningful and high stakes basketball in April/May, which is even more crucial for development early on..

The bad thing is that this is his future for the next few years. Do you see them benching Steph in favor of starting Harper? I think not. A ton of talent on the bench only getting 20-25 minutes a game until he or Steph up their 3 pt percentage.

It may be because you're old, we don't know. Of course we're questioning the pick. Simply because you have 2 guys ahead of him that plays the exact same way (*can't shoot but are elite at putting pressure on the rim*.) It's not because of his lack of talent. How's he going to be the best PG in the league "soon," if he can't even get an extended period of time on the floor because of the guys ahead of him? Kon would've been a better team fit right now, no questions about it to me. We needed floor spacing for Wemby. People hated Vassel and wanted him gone until this season because they see what his shooting brings. Unfortunately it's inconsistent at times but Kon is consistent with his shot making (*has been since college*) and I could easily see him taking minutes away from Vassel and Barnes. I don't see Harper taking away minutes from Fox or Castle anytime soon. It's that simple. Nothing stupid about the take.

Nobody cares about the Hornets,so no one plans for Nipple. He’s this years Knecht.
 
Kon is better now than Knecht has ever been. The only similarity is that they're white dudes who are billed as shooters. Harper may yet end up being the better player but it's hard to argue how well Kon would've fit on our roster

Can you imagine if Yahoo hired a real reporter instead of KOC?

Even if KOC ends up being half decent some of the time, there's no denying a real reporter might make Yahoo a real website.

such a lazy comp tbh. knecht was a 5th year senior. kon was a freshman. their games are also very different. knecht fell out of the lottery in one of the weaker drafts in modern history, while Kon went #4 overall in a solid draft

People underestimating Kon obviously haven't watched him play.
I don't want to get ahead of myself, but he looks like a complete wing in the making.
His decision making is already great, he plays at his own pace and can do a bit of everything.

To make another questionable comparison, he should be Hayward 2.0.
And I'd be happy if we drafted him.
It's just that Harper has obvious superstar potential and can easily develop into one of the best players in the league.
 
i was a Kon skeptic during the draft process. i didnt hate him at 8/9 or so where we were projected to pick, but i wasnt as enthused as some

i was dead wrong tbh. ive already seen enough. as a rookie (on a team that has been winning lately) he's already more or less a 20ppg guy on 50/40/90 splits

he is far and away having the best shooting season by a rookie in league history. and again, he's not just standing stationary and hitting easy looks. the volume speaks for itself. as a rookie when guys are getting used to the speed/athleticism of the nba, in addition to the 3pt line distance (particularly for shooters like him)... he can only get better from here

vassell and champagnie lead our team in 3PA per game at 7.0 and 6.8, respectively. both are making 37% of their looks. they are considered to be our team's two best shooters (i understand keldon is shooting a very good% this year, but not the same types of looks/volume). kon is attempting 7.8 per game and making 43% of them

I was also a Kon skeptic, and I haven't watched enough CHA to really change my mind (though I am aware he is the leader in ROTY contention and is playing great), so I'm hoping he sucks ass tomorrow and I continue to be befuddled :LOL:

I was going to post something similar yesterday, but you pretty much had the exact same thoughts as me. I sort of listened to Rascal and didn't really want him at where the Spurs were projected to pick before the draft lottery. I was really underwhelmed thinking he might struggle at the NBA level against bigger, faster, more explosive athletes. I haven't watched him in the NBA yet, though, so I don't know how his overall game is. Is his defense passable at the NBA level? Is he an offense only player?

I thought, eh, I'm not sure I want him at 8 or 9. Then when the Spurs got into the top 4, I'm thinking at least we don't have to look at guys like KK. I was completely wrong on him. He wouldn't have even been there had the Spurs got the 8th or 9th pick anyway. Do you guys think the Spurs pick Knueppel if they had the third or fourth pick? It'd be interesting to know if they would have went with VJ or Bailey ahead of Kon if they didn't get the 2nd pick. Maybe Eric Collins in right in calling him "Kon Man."

The comparison I made after about 2 months into the season was prime Klay Thompson with a dribble and playmaking game which is like arguably a top 15-20 player in the league once he has a couple years of experience/development.

He’s bigger stronger faster and more athletic than I anticipated from college tape too. Might be the extra space that allows him to show that more.
 
Harper needs to develop a reliable jumper and he'll be fine, if he can shoot 47-50% at the mid range and 35-38% for three, with his ability to get into the paint and his court vision, we have our point guard. We also need Castle to develop his 3-point range and we have our shooting guard. Now let's go get our starting PF
