Player The restricted-age video store section of Dylan Harper

He didn't score much in this game but he had a Jason Kidd like game with this 10 assists and 5 steals and 0 turnovers.
I was going to say, I didn't look at the stats, and I know he had a bad game as far as scoring goes, but without looking at the box score, I came away thinking he did other things well where Mitch can't point out the box score saying it's unacceptable to have 7 pts, 2 assists, 0 rebounds etc. like he did in a game earlier in the season. Mitch said he's not worried about the scoring, but he can't have games doing nothing else. Now that you've shown those numbers (first time I saw them), he definitely still had a great impact on the game doing other things. I'm sure Mitch would be happy with him making it up in other areas.

I hope he hasn't lost confidence in his jump shot as I feel he hasn't been able to get to the rim and finish much these past few games. Not sure how good his touch around the basket is when he's not using the glass. Looks like he needs to work on that as a lot of these misses seemed like easy buckets, but most of them are misses without him looking to use the glass to finish. Not sure if he usually takes close in shots without using the backboard? TP was an exception finished both off the glass and without using the glass.

If someone just saw Dylan's boxscore today and found that he had 10 assists, 5 steals and just 4 points ..they would still be mighty pleased. If you are reading this and one of them, I advise you to watch this game in full and the minutes that Dylan played closely.

The kid was tremendous on defense today - one on one and help defense. He was hounding and staying firm in front of SGA, J-Dub and whoever the OKC was throwing at him. He was a menace in the passing lanes showing preternatural abilities to read the offensive player and the ball handler's body language. Absolute terror on defense who made the OKC Thunder work for every damn point.

That he had Wemby behind him was a huge advantage too. But I what loved most about him today was his performance on offense. He was picking apart from the Thunder defense and finding the right pass and right play on every possession.

What a superstar in the making. Outstanding today.

the most impressive thing I didnt expect from Harper is his perimeter defense, defensive iq

he's rarely in the wrong spot, and always hustling
We should have known that he may have had that potential as his dad was one of the Bulls' best perimeter defenders. I didn't really think about that aspect as I wasn't expecting it either. He most likely would have been in Dylan's ear about how important defense is to winning games and Championships. The typical NBA father-son, I don't recall most of their dads being great defenders, whereas, Ron was an offensive player earlier in his career and then a defensive player later in his career on Championship winning teams. I'm guessing some of the stuff Ron said would have sunk in, and Dylan would have had no problem buying into it when getting to San Antonio and hearing the coaching staff talk about it being non-negotiable. You probably don't get that type of buy-in from the get go from guys that had their fathers play in the NBA, but weren't defensive players themselves.

My new favorite player tbh. I need to learn how to post the “I’m not worthy” gif from Wayne’s World in apology to Harper for ever comparing him badly to Edgecomb. What a shit take that was.

Castle is a beast, basically.

And Harper's just gonna get better.
