I know you can make highlight reels for almost any half-decent player, and they're not a great way to judge a player's impact...but I'll be damned if this video doesn't just scream out "future superstar in the making". The fact that a 19/20 year-old guard looks like this in his rookie season is just absurd.

I honestly think he could be an all-star as early as next season if he were on a team where he was the #1 or 2 scoring option. It will be very interesting to see how the Spurs manage him because I don't think we have much longer until it becomes malpractice to not be giving him 28-30 mpg.

Cooper was ranked markedly higher than Harper due to his defensive potential, whereas the offensive generation of both players were supposed to be different in style but similar in effectiveness.

So far Harper’s defense is every bit as good as cooper, if not better. I admit having wemby to back you up helps a lot, and cooper has to exert more energy on offence due to the team requirements but it is a pleasant surprise for me. On offence cooper produces more due to the role but Harper has shown flashes of the ability to do so.

I’d say in a redraft cooper will still go #1 and Harper will still go #2 but I felt the gap has reduced.

Yeah FG% alone doesn't tell the whole story. Points per possession would account for FTs and turnovers too.

The other night, Harper came up, did the Tony Parker spin, went under the basket, and did a little lefty flip off the glass like Manu, and the prophecy was fulfilled.

Yes, dark blue is league average and black is above league average. So if you look, he's at league average or above virtually everywhere.

Harper's rookie season doesn't get the praise it should because the class and the team are much better so he isn't on the spotlight as much, but he's having a sneaky better season than Castle did last year, he'd have been the runaway ROY last year if you switch him for Castle. If he keeps working on his shot the sky is the limit for this guy.

Yeah, he really barely gets fouled, tbh, he's juking guys out of their spots. He's also extremely good at dislodging and bumping guys out of the way. For a guy who's a rookie, he's upper tier at using his body without fouling guys offensively. Doesn't stick his arm out (like, ahem, SGA), doesn't lower his shoulder, just knows how to gently bump defenders to get where he needs. It's wild.

To be fair, Castle played much of the year as the top option learning as he went after Vic went down. Harper is going against second units a lot and on a very good team where his role has been very defined.

But I don't like to compare them about who is better. This creeps into old Manu vs. Tony debates. Their skilllsets are pretty different.

The way I see it is - he's a little too good at finishing. Exstatic is also right, probably if he wasn't a rookie, he could have gotten a few more foul calls too.
