News The Official Check Here Before Asking About Injury Return Dates Thread

No need to start slitting our wrists yet. If Victor isn't back after the cup break then we can start to panic

Anyone else get a sinking feeling in the pit of their stomachs reading this?

I mentioned this in the Castle thread... but Casey Viera and Devin Brown discussed this a little after the DEN game and one of them used the phrase "whatever is going on with Wemby". Devin seems to fairly good access to what is happening around the team, so this has me concerned.
The fact that he didn't need a boot and the talk is now of him missing at least 4-weeks has me extremely worried. Jeff Mcdonald is not the most plugged guy, but he has access too and talks to people around the facility (without daring to put it to print). That he says he would bet against him being ready for Cup game tells me there is something there. I am hoping they are just playing the "overcautious" card; if not i think we should accept that Wemby missing large chunk of season is a fact life with him. We sort of knew this was always a risk when we drafted him.

Said it in the other thread: This will come down to Wemby lobbying his way back in court and overruling the medical staff if they don't clear him for the Cup game

He cares about that stuff and he cares about awards, which is fine. I am sure the sight of Chet beating him first to a ring and DPOY irks him big time

The guy said he thinks it's a lock he'll be back by Christmas (3 weeks), that's inconsistent with any ominous interpretation. Just because he may not be ready in a week doesn't mean we need to be writing his obituary. Let's get a grip.

Most of us are very passionate about our beloved Spurs and therefore have a tendency to react emotionally and speculate heavily. We need to calm down, act rationally, and control what we can. And by "what we can" I mean we need to grab our torches and pitchforks, head to the Bay Area, and kneecap Podziemski for rolling over on our boy's legs.

I don-t think he is the most reliable source on the Spurs; but he has access to the facility on daily basis and talks to people ther (training/medical staff)..i am so spooked by his tone there; it is as if he's privy to an intel that Wemby is not close to a return

have to remember that ST is the equivalent to a hypochondriac. just a couple of weeks ago, people were freaking out over Fox and whispers of "surgery" were starting up. all i got from the McDonald tweet is that Wemby will be back before Christmas, for sure, and there's a chance he may not be back nine days from now. This still puts Wemby returning within the time frame we were initially given.

I dunno...the dog down the street told me his feet fell off, and Temu takes a long time to ship new feet (and they may not be the same size)

He last played 11/14. If he's not able to return by the time the Cup QF rolls around, he isn't playing until 12/17 at the earliest. Missing over a month for a minor calf strain is concerning IMO. Wasn't the initial expectation that he'd be re-evaluated in 2 weeks? Haven't heard any sort of results/feedback from that re-evaluation unless I've just missed it.

Not saying he's about to die or be forced to retire, but think it's pretty reasonable to be slightly concerned. I'm sure it's all fine but not like people are being insane for wondering if there's more to this than what we're being told.

Most of what I read was that Wemby would be out for a "few weeks" and some reports had him out for between 2-3 weeks. others said he'd be reevaluated in two weeks. also, i'm not sure if mcdonald meant the entire cup because he was a bit vague with that. if the spurs lose to the lakers, they play the loser of the OKC/Suns game (so the Suns) and not sure if that would be at home or away. i'm thinking that the Spurs wouldn't want Wemby to come back to such a competitive game because he'd exert more energy in such a game. in other words, to me, it's more about the circumstances around that time more than it is the injury itself, and the reason i think this is because of what mitch said yesterday about everyone being 'close'. he's said this before with Fox and Harper and they turned out to be just that (altough ST time is on another scale).

I don't think he will play against Memphis (first night of B2B); but if he doesn't travel with the team on next road trip, then you would have to have believe Jeff Mcdonald was maybe onto something (he says "semi-informed" opinion)..Wemby could be a slow healer unlike Harper.

This is some spurtalk tier wrist cutting. Wemby getting cared with absolute kids gloves to make sure his ACL doesn't explode and everyone in here is like "weight loss, he's dying and has millions of blood clots". :st-lmao: :st-lmao: :st-lmao: :st-lmao: :st-lmao: :st-lmao: :st-lmao: :st-lmao: :st-lmao: :st-lmao: :st-lmao: :st-lmao: :st-lmao: :st-claw:

I assume this tweeter means Harper...

But... Harper went out 11/2 and returned 11/26, so the same timeline for Wemby would have him returning 12/8, for those who enjoy math (and referencing the right player)
Same difference, they all got weak soft tissue lol Castle will probably be back game after the next, probably.

All this means is that any time Wemby doesn't hit 65 games, the winner of MVP and DPOY will have an asterisk next to it.
