Player The Mundane Mediocrity of Maestro Mitch Johnson and his Many Minions

Changed the topic title to the more appropriate one until he proves himself.
(Did it when we struggled in the regular season and it worked, tbh.)

Meritocracy is nowhere to be seen with Keldon closing out games in which he's a detriment to the team.

Lmao tbf well deserved

I expect Fox and obviously Victor to play much better on Wednesday. I guess we will have to see if Fox continues to no-show? I don’t think he will.
If you're going to bench Fox for Harper, you have to do it game 2. You can't wait until game 3. It'll be too late. If he's going to make a bold move, it has to be done in game 2. You can't have a rookie have to try and bail us out on the road in game 3.

It might be a crazy move, but I'd bench Fox in game 2 and run with Harper. I'd rather Harper get in rhythm for the road games.

Mitch just said he has "NO problem" with Fox's boxscore and play.

GTFO.
I guess the coach has to stick up for his player, but I hope he doesn't mean that. Anthony Edwards played way better than Fox and he called himself out after the game.

Understandable that Mitch had to say that, but Fox better have a really big problem with the way he played. AE criticized himself after the game. That was a piss poor performance from Fox. Dejounte, D-White any of these former guys the Spurs let go IMO could have had a better game than that, maybe even Tre Jones too.

You aren't going to get any accountability from Coach Vibes. He's got to make the locker room and press conference a safe space for his players.

Sycophantic hire with sycophantic results.

Yeah, it’s just too much of an overreaction and it’s not going to happen. Fox did play extremely well in the last playoff series. He’s a veteran, he’s an All-Star, etc. He’s obviously going to get his minutes here.

I don’t think starting Harper is the right call either, but Mitch has to come into every game with the mindset that whoever plays better gets to stay on the court, not that we will ride or die with Fox whether he’s on or off that night. He’s not Wemby, he’s not the franchise player, he might not even be the #2 option regardless of contract size.

And honestly who knows, maybe fighting a rookie for his minutes will light a fire under Fox

Definitely got out coached. When Minny started to screen Wemby basically stopping him to free roam, Mitch was too late to adjust to that.

KJ has been straight up, dreadful in the playoffs. Last night as Ant is lighting him up he’s talking all kinds of bullshit only inspiring him further. Dude stop talking when you are playing like trash.

I wonder if he's going to consult Coach Pop on what moves to make since he's new to coaching in the playoffs or if they're giving him the full call on what changes to make? I would guess Pop will be in his ear a little.

Pops a vegetable at this point. No one coming through that door to save Mitch.

I'm with this way of coaching. He won't start Harper, but since the Spurs have the great guards, you got to keep playing the one/s that are playing best. Too many times Dylan has played well and then he sticks with Fox to close out the game. It didn't help Fox play better in the playoffs, but it sure as sh1t could have given Dylan more experience for the playoffs if he got to close out more regular reason games when he was playing great. Then Mitch could have had more confidence to let him close out games in the playoffs. Either way, he's gotta start playing the player/s that are playing best. Stop going back to Fox when he's stinking it up, or Castle for that matter too.

Derrick literally shot the Celtics out of the series against a 7th seed :st-lol:

5 - 26 from 3 in the last 3 games against phillly

He's had lots of great playoff games for the Celtics,. So you're only going off of this last series? That's not fair. He's done more in the playoffs than a lot of the players on the current Spurs team.
He's a Championship player that has had big games in the playoffs for his team on the way to a Championship. He's also had big games when they haven't won. What is D-Fox in the playoffs compared to what he's done?

Who cares what he did in the past. He shit the bed in the playoffs this year and was a huge reason why the Celtics lost to a 7th seed.

When Fox played bad last night did you walk away from it saying "well no big deal he played well in game 4 against the blazers and helped us when our first playoff series since in almost a decade?"

Watching it back this morning, NOT tired with fresh eyes, my opinion is the same. Champ got a great look. McDaniels is closing out on Champ and is nowhere near him. If anything, the shot was rushed because he had less than 2 seconds. We got the rebound with 7 seconds to go. So if Mitch is drawing up a play, we got Wemby shooting awful, Fox shooting awful, an offense out of rhythm the whole game. We are NOT getting a better look than that, and I take that look 10/10. So we move on from here. If Wemby and Fox gave us like 5% more on offense last night, we would win the game by like 6.
