Because the Spurs’ midget ball lineup was at full strength while Denver only played their big guys with a bunch of G-Leaguers.
 
I liked the decision to have Bryant playing more and limiting Barnes. Although, I'd like to see Carter be more aggressive on the offensive end, his energy was contagious.
 
I loved that Mitch owned his role in the Game 2 loss. The small ball lineup in the 3rd with Harper's heroics really confounded the Blazers. Getting a road win in the playoffs without your superstar is never easy. It felt like Mitch & Co. pushed the right buttons at halftime and our rebounding got cleaned up. It was obvious, but, Mitch stuck with Harper when he had the hot hand. Hidden in plain sight were CB's 22 mins and long stretch of play in the 3rd. Castle and Kornet were much fresher in the 4th due to that extended rest. Really impressive. It felt like Mitch outreached Tiago last night.

That was a coaching masterclass. The Blazers were showing all the signs of making it an early blowout, that first half was absolute rubbish, but we just barely held it together. When I looked at the scoreboard and saw we were within 8, I knew we survived that first big punch from Portland.

To the Blazers credit, they came out looking dominant in the 3rd only for our trio of young guys to completely clamp them down for roughly the final 1.5 quarters.

Wemby, Castle, Harper, and now we can absolutely add Carter Bryant into that mix as the core of this team's future.
 
Sweeney a hot candidate for the Pels job.

Hope he stays but I believe doing a good job coaching a Wemby defense is possible for others.

Same. I wanted him to stay for at least two seasons. I think there's more he can teach the young guys.
 
Did he forget about his best player in a close out game?(7 FGAs for Wemby!) More Harper should always be the answer to Castlebrick nights. And why Carter Bryant is suddenly in the doghouse?

That second half is why i still don't trust Mitch in-game management and feel. And it's why i'm still shitting bricks about that Denver matchup as mediocre as they have looked so far. The execution is still not it and we were lucky Blazers are an inexperienced and offensively-challenged team.

Agreed and it’s also playing down to the competition to an extent as well. That’s a sign of a very immature team. One would hope Denver would have their attention the entire series.

Literally the most dominant win of the series and we have people are think Mitch doesn't know what he's doing because he changed things up in ways they wouldn't. Guess what, Mitch is smarter than y'all, more experienced than y'all, and knows what he's doing while y'all can't even go two days without posting something incredibly stupid.

Im' not saying Mitch is above criticism but being upset at him for literally making changes that led to the Spurs dominating for the entirety of the game is WILD.

I’ve never played at the NBA level but I did play varsity basketball in high school and we were a decent team. It’s way different level but I don’t think some fans realize just HOW LONG a game feels when you have a lead the whole game. A 2.5 hour game probably felt like 4 hours to them. It’s so easy to give up a lead because you’re just trying to get out with a win and the other team is trying all game to claw back and are very focused. It’s easy to have some bad habits and start playing “not to lose”. And we can’t forget how Portland got the 7th seed from PHX, they are a team that knows how to come back and win games. It’s in their DNA. They fought hard. Some teams would have quit. So just be happy with the win and how Mitch and the players did what it to took the pull out the W.
 
Someone needs to teach Mitch how to talk and yell without doing damage to his voice. He's going to get....or already has vocal nodules. It must be annoying. I have to speak a lot for my job, and I had a friend in opera teach me how to project without wearing my vocal cords out.

In the context of a team trying to win a championship, they need to put their foot on the throat of inferior teams and keep it there. Someone in the GT said OKC would have beat Portland down by 40 last night and I agree. They would have just kept piling on. Also, Mitch was NOT doing much more than ISO ball. Everyone was standing around while Portland cut the lead to 8.
 
I really hope CB is gets another crack in the 2nd round.

Right now, we haven't really gotten much from the bench outside of Harper/Kornet.

We need one of Keldon/Barnes/CB to give us something over the course of a series. I think it'll be Keldon but Mitch needs to not bury Bryant completely in the chance that Keldon continues to struggle. Barnes hasn't looked good for 4 months now tbh.
 
CB is going to be on a short leash as far as the rookie mental errors.. Just gets way harder from here..

I don't think Mitch has buried Bryant. Much shorter lease more than likely.I do think he was trying to get Keldon and Barnes contributing in a meaningful way. Yes , much more likely that it is Keldon.
