Bickerstaff for COTY so far but he did finish second last year so there may be some voter fatigue there. I've made my thoughts on the Mitch hiring very apparent but I have stated that I hope he is able to quickly acquire the knowledge to position the team to be a contender in the near term. So I have no problem giving him his flowers when he does well. The different defensive looks on Jokic, timely full court press, and second half adjustments all played a role in this victory. Nice job Mitch.
 
No way that Pop would have us winning this much without Wemby. Mitch deserves a lot of credit for the vast improvement we’ve seen in this team.
 
Perimeter D has to be a number 1 priority for Sweeney and his crew...Absolutely atrocious all season long with few outlier games. Teams are reeling us in so easily from down +10 mainly because our 3 points D is non existing during long stretches.

Too many guys gambling by stepping in toward the lane on defense and leaving their man open on the three point line. Happens so often it seems by design. Sure it generates some extra steals and fast breaks for us, which is fun to watch, but it also generates a ton of open looks from three for the other team.
 
I think Mitch could have done more to get our 3pt shooters into a rhythm.
Vassell, Champ, and Barnes going cold from 3 was our biggest problem in this game.
Giving up open 3s was the other
 
All in all, for a young coach he is doing a good job. Some of his experimentations sometimes hurt the team but he has to jungle injuries, restricted minutes, a never seen before athlete and young guys to incorporate.
 
It is pretty clear that Mitch can coach offense.
Our defense has been terrible since Wemby and Castle went out but we’re still winning games by simply out gunning other teams.

The fact that he is willing to experiment as much as he has leads me to believe in the long run he will be a very good coach tbh. If you look at young coaches in their early days across the board one thing they did was play tons of lineups and tons of lineups that made no sense, were bad, etc.

Happy he is playing Carter Bryant as much as he is even if Carter is a disaster on both ends. He is going to be our defensive stopper going forward players with his profile don't really get better playing the g league they really only get better by playing against top end offensive talent and figuring it out.

When your missing your Best and 3rd best player everything goes out the window stats don't mater ratings don't matter just get the W by any means necessary.

:st-lol: at our defense being bad since our two best defenders stop playing. You don't say :st-lol:
 
Sochan obviously had to play because Olynyk and Biyombo are useless on defense.
But I can't understand why did we go for a Sochan handoff from consecutive timeouts when it obviously wasn't working?
And all those balls he received in the middle of the paint which amounted to nothing.
And the tragic fastbraks.
Just limit his role as much as possible if he has to play.
 
Mitch has been pretty great all things considered tbh.

Just been night and day with his staff vs what we had the last several years, from out of bounds plays, rotations, defensive sets, adjustments, etc.

On the bright side, I saw Sweeney and Williamson exchange looks of disgust and WTF on the bench the other day when an opponent was left wide open for a 3. Forget which game, but it was somewhat reassuring.
 
The zone defense was huge for us last night, especially in the first half when we built our lead

Last night against Memphis, Barnes/Keldon/Sochan/Carter Bryant/Dylan Harper was the second-most used five-man lineup (they logged in 5 mins., the starting five played 16 mins.). Funnily enough, this lineup had a better ORTG than DRTG, but I guess this was mostly because of Barnes scoring so well.

That's the Four Undersized Power Forwards and a Point Guard lineup as I like to call it, with Olynk waiting in the wings. Lol.
 
I‘m quite surprised that our offense is that good when we basically just run a bunch of DHOs and horns sets

I think that was a function of the game being a home/road B2B with less than 24 hours between tip offs. Running a zone to any great degree almost concedes the offensive glass. It’s hard to put a body on a man if you’re not guarding one.
 
I was confused by Wemby’s usage in the first half, angry even, but once it became clear that we were saving him for the 4th I was down with the plan.
