Player The Burgeoning 3&D American Sign Language Consulate of Carter Bryant

If you noticed Spurs totally ignore non 3 pt shooting threats like Sin-GOON out on the perimeter.

Don't really see the Shane Battier comparison.

One relies a lot on athleticism and the other was a fluid and skilled but relatively unathletic Dukie.

Until a better comparison comes along, I'll stick with the more dynamic (athletic) Michael Cooper from the showtime Lakers.

The Bobby Jones comparison isn't bad either (if it's that now ancient but then very athletic player with the Julius Erving era Sixers -- somebody must be almost as old as I am).
Glad someone else recognizes those dudes. Coop was so good on defense. I liked him better than Byron Scott.

CB's best development trait the last few months is how he can still play tough D without being a foul machine tbh. The shooting has been awesome no doubt but he's not seeing the floor if he's putting guys on the line left and right.

I've liked what I've seen from him as well, however, I would be lying if I said I felt 100% safe having him assigned to the brunsons and sgas of the league. he can jump out the building, but i get the sense those pump fakes by the elites are something he might need to improve on, which can only been done with experience. Still think is a risk spurs have to live with.

We need a competent wing defender for the likes of Gordon, Randle, KD, Lebron etc.
Bryant doesn't need to start, but giving us ~10 minutes of good wing defense could be decisive in the playoffs.

I don't want to jinx him, but, he's already proven that he can shoot from the corner and stay inbounds better than Champagnie.
44% from 3 is scary, just Feb stats, but still....

CB has a really high ceiling. It's exciting to think about how he could develop his game if he puts in the work. One of those mid-first round guys that could prove to be a huge steal looking back. Seems like we traded with Indiana for one of those diamonds in the rough, high upside mid-first rounders a few years ago if I remember correctly.

Can’t wait until BBRef posts the advanced Box Score for the Celtics game. His USG had to be like 40 tonight… and let’s just say… that’s too much

He was a little trigger happy but I like seeing that more than what we saw the other night with him being super passive and passing up open shots.

I’m honestly just still thrilled that he is already looking like a clear NBA player in year 1. I really thought he was going to be much more of a project and would spend the majority of year 1 in Austin. The fact that he’s able to play 10-15 minutes of real basketball against playoff level opponents is awesome.

I was happy with CB tonight tbh. Wish Brown didn't get ejected and he got more run tbh. Needed the experience in case they do somehow end up in the Finals.

The most important thing is that he looks like a shooter.
If you'd never seen him play before, you'd think it's just another 3-D role player since his shooting motion is natural and he doesn't hesitate.
It's not like he's being left alone in the gym and dared to shoot.
Yes, he's the guy opponent's help off, but they're closing out as soon as the pass starts flying towards him.

He needs to let it fly like he did last night. He needs to get a feel for those shots in rhythm and without hesitation. IMHO, he could be close to 40% once comfortable.

Teams will dare him to shoot like last night, and he needs to not hesitate. I also think he has a good low post game for put backs, but you can tell he's hesitant. He's getting more and more comfortable. Once he gets these jitters and second guessing out of the way, he's going to shine.

His defense is already fantastic, but I think even that will significantly improve. He and Castle really aggravated Brown and Tatum.

he's up to 33.6% from 3 on the season after what had been a pretty brutal start for him. shot 41% in february and 38% so far in march.

its only been 5 games, but since harrison barnes has been out, he's been playing about 19mpg and making 40% of his 3's on solid volume (4 attempts per game). would be the equivalent of a full time player averaging ~30mpg taking 6 threes per game.

with vassell/champagnie handling all the high degree of difficulty movement shooting, CB has mostly been tasked with stationary catch and shoot looks, and frankly thats all he has to do in this iteration of the team. half of his 3PA this season have come from the corner, which is in-line with what Unc had been doing

What I like about CB is that he came to us as a role player. He was a role player in college and knew his only way to get on the court was to hit open shots and play tough nose defense. That attitude doesn’t change in the pros.

A lot of people who wanted him to join the GL where he was the main focal point of the offense would’ve ruined his flow of the game. He had the size, attitude, athleticism, and determination to be what he is right now. And I give MATFO a lot of credit for not adhering to the losing ways the Spurs had adopted but rather embracing the winning ways other championship or contending level teams have developed their players (including the Spurs with Kawhi)

What I find interesting about his defense is that I find that he gets burned a lot like he has a hard time to stay in front of the attacker but recovers quickly, which gives him opportunities to block from behind.

I feel a lot better now about his offense than the beginning of the year when I saw nothing

I think it’s the scheme tbh to overplay the 3 ball and have them go to the lane where Wemby is at.

Seeing different stats on statmuse month over month. Trending in the right direction though.
