Barnes vs Bryant is becoming a conversation though. I still think Barnes will be given every opportunity to retain his spot, but if he doesn't earn it, then at some point down the stretch I could see it at least becoming 50/50 or more, in Bryant's favor.

Barnes has been doing everything in his power to lose his spot this calendar year. He can piss off tbh

Let's see who we draft in this upcoming loaded draft....if it is a SF/PF big wings, he could usurp CB if he play better.

But also....we can't have a Max player earning 60 mil coming off the bench, can we? :st-lol:
 
CB is an important piece of we’re going to ring this year.
There’s a lot of uncertainty about this team going into the postseason. But if CB can give us hustle, defense, and the ability to hit open shots in the playoffs then I really like our odds to win the title.
 
Stat sheet doesn’t really do his performance tonight justice. His energy on defense and on the boards made him a clear positive out there even while not doing much of anything on offense.

At this point I really think he should be eating up more and more of HB’s minutes, but Barnes is also the type of vet that might have more of an impact in the playoffs. Might be a cop out, but I have to imagine Mitch and the staff will feel more comfortable in big moments with the veteran as opposed to trotting out Bryant.

Exactly what I've been banging on about. If you want to get his offense up, I think he'd be better starting as it could get him some better looks to start the game and get rolling a bit, but I mostly want him playing because he can be a menace defensively, bring energy, hustles, plays physically. In any case, I'd just settle for him being in the rotation and getting regular minutes.

The Spurs really should have started playing him more in January when HB was in that horrendous slump. It would have help more towards having trust in CB for the playoffs if they started giving him minutes earlier on. Like you said, I'm a bit worried they won't trust him to give him regular minutes in playoff games over the veteran player/s.

Barnes is known to go cold in big moments, I'm sure the coaching staff knows this too.

Love seeing him putting it together! Been a while since we've had an athletic forward like CB. Nice to have someone capable in the dunker's spot.

There is something to be said about CB and his offense he is not afraid to shoot if he is open but he also does not force shots he knows his role on offense if you have an open shot shoot if not pass the ball set screens rebound etc.
 
Spurs gonna run into a team like the knicks, nuggets, rockets, w length and carter bryant’s peskiness is essential. Pop’s stubborn ass would live and die by his chosen vets. Here’s hoping mitch is more flexible and rides hot hands and rewards players who get you in position to win. Kid needs to play more.
 
Outside of doubling, he was the only solve we had to Kawhi tonight... awesome game from CB that a scoresheet won't reflect.
