Game Thread Spurs (48-17) vs Nuggets (40-26) (Thu 3/12/2026) [8:00PM CDT]

This'll be tough. They are coming off a back-to-back BUT they are basically fully healthy except for I think Watson

If Vic has a sore ankle, he should rest. As the Nuggets are on a b2b there could be a chance the Spurs are still running them out of the building, but its slim.

:st-flag: :st-flag: :st-flag:

Jokic has been disgustingly bad on defense since he came back from injury, looks even slower than usual.
Yea he really has tbh. The effort's been bad, not sure what's going on there. Good chance he's still not 100% from that injury. He's historically played well against us though, at least since 2024. Hopefully Wemby plays tonight and takes this matchup personally.

I hope Wemby plays. Obviously it’s not the primary goal but I want to see him overtake Jokic for top 2 in mvp voting and the head to heads could be decisive

A loss tonight wouldnt be the worst thing in the world if we wanted to avoid Denver in the first round tbh :st-stirthepot:

we still have 2 additional games vs the nuggets after this one, so there will be plenty of opportunity for vic to get practice run against a potential playoff opponent. with that said, if we wants to make a run for the MVP award in the final stretch, the narrative factor matters a ton, and a head to head matchup against jokic a few days after Shai had that monster clutch performance would help

we also know wemby relishes these big matchups, whether its jokic, giannis, chet, etc

I think Wemby can only miss 3 more games to be EOY award eligible. I'd expect him to play, but maybe with limited minutes. It would if he and the Spurs had the flexibility to let him rest for a couple of games before the playoffs start.

Yeah, if he needs the rest at the very end of the season, then obviously give it to him as long as he’s still qualifying for awards. I’m sure that’s important to him. I don’t care about conceding on the top seed with a few games to go if Victor needs the rest.
