Game Thread Spurs (47-17) vs Celtics (43-21) (Tues 03/10/26) [7:00PM CDT]

Toughest game in the homestand. Should be a great test against a full squad Celtics team that's increasingly looking like the best East team and the only one with established Championship pedigree..

It will be fun to watch as I don't dislike this team like those guys last night...which was fun to watch for different reasons.

Gonna be a good test for our guys going against this really good and deep Celtics team. They have shooters all over the floor and Tatum's looking better with each passing quarter since his return. Gonna have to bring our A-game to win this one. Let's get it.

I think the celtics are overrated af…

Spurs already beat them this season and tatum is not even close to game shape…

So its either the spurs beat themselves by laying an egg like they did against the knicks…
Or spurs play well and win decisively imo

Don't think they're overrated tbh. They're definitely beatable, but I don't think overrated is the right word. They're 19-6 in their last 25 games and just got their alpha in Tatum back. He makes them better, even if he's not back to his normal self yet. They're one of the best 3PT shooting teams in the league and the Spurs are still in the bottom-half of the league in Opponent 3PT% so it's not the best matchup for us. With that said, we have Wemby and they don't. That gives us the advantage. If we show up and play like we're capable, we should win. Will definitely need some of our role players to step up and hit shots though.

Count me in as respectful of this opponent, tbh. Celtics have looked like the real deal for a while now, and Tatum, even in his physically tentative post-injury return, is still an incredible asset to have on the floor.

This is a game where Wemby can really be called on offense - unlike Detroit, the Celts are very much perimeter-oriented but lacking size, which is great for us IF Wemby takes advantage of it, but very bad if we get a "GuardBanyama" type of night from him. He's almost certainly not getting away with any dribble-combo moves against those guards.

Exciting stuff and great to face them now that the team is feeling like they're in "full power" mode - either a learning experience, or yet another morale-boosting win is in the cards. GSG!!

They’re making the finals imo. People acting like this team didn’t just ring two seasons ago.

Hard to disagree. Been saying for a couple months now that I thought the Knicks were finally going to make it to the Finals this year, but might have to change that prediction now that Tatum is back and looking solid. If he's even 80% of his normal self come Playoff time, I think the Celtics might be the favorites. I'll def be tuning into their matchup on April 9th in NYC.

I don't think it's a hot take at all to say that Boston should be the clear favorites to make it out of the East. The only reason they weren't favorites previously was Tatum's injury...now that he's returned and has a full month+ to get back into game shape, they pretty clearly have the scariest roster IMO.

Very excited to see how we look against them.

Celtics only real weakness is their lack of a dynamic Center. They're relying on Nikola Vucevic (who's out for a month), Neemias Queta, and Luke Garza to hold down that position right now, which obv isn't ideal defensively. But Vuc and Garza are both good 3-point shooters, which would likely draw Wemby away from the basket in a potential Finals matchup. So that, along with them already having shooters all over the floor, would likely present some potential matchup issues for us in a Finals Series.

Celtics with healthy Tatum scare me more than any other team including OKC. They've got a stable of defensive wings to throw at our guards, they have a multi-prong attack so you can't cut off a single head of the snake, their entire roster is stacked with 2 way players, they're collectively an elite 3 point shooting team on volume, and they don't rely heavily on getting to the rim. If the spurs win both now and in a potential finals matchup, this has to be a team effort.

Also, Derrick White

Clear is strong. Slight is more like it. A more talented Celtics iteration was on the verge of being beaten relatively soundly by the Knicks last season before Tatum tore his Achilles.

It's funny, they're the opposite build of that majority of the Tatum-Brown era: Deep on playable wings, but lacking front court quality and back court quantity.

Still a prolific three-point shooting team, but neither Vucevic or his replacement Garza are good or high volume enough to bring Wembanyama out of the paint.

I want to blow the celtics out really bad because that bum Brown was talking shit after we whooped him last time

This is a game for Wemby.
Vucevic is out, he needs to kill Queta and Garza.

Spurs need to attack the paint and play through Wemby on this one. No 5-6 possessions with the tall boi just running around with his hands in the air asking for the ball and being ignored.

They're not going to outshoot the Celtics. They'll get blown out if they try. Have to exploit the C's lack of defensive presence inside for them to have a chance.
