RIVALRY CEMENTED

Personally, really enjoyed the banter between SVG and D Wade, especially when he trolled "deep analysts" by saying the Spurs are a whole lot better when VW plays. Did appreciate his comments late about what a wonderful game it was and what a treat it was to see both teams going at it so hard and skillfully in an intense game.
Idk when Wemby hit that long three right before the half Wade was going off.

What was the thing he did in ‘06 that fucked the team, nail Rasho to the bench or something? Honest question, I remember you talking about it years ago. Reminded me of Splitter in ‘11.
Lol I could write a book. I probably have. Same with Splitter. A bit off topic but new people might want to know my reasons for saying the winningest coach of all time is a lucky idiot who was terrible at his job. :lol

Nazr Mohammed got a grenade at the end of the shot clock and hit a fluke three pointer in a blowout against the Kings. Pop went on a "That's not who we are" tirade in the presser and started cutting back his minutes through the playoffs. Somehow as it progressed, this extended to Rasho too. By the end of the Mavs series, Pop was running small ball lineups as Duncan and Horry were fouling out. A team that won 63 games had to learn a whole new defense on the fly. They almost made it.

Everyone blames Manu for that foul. Nobody ever asks why a shooting guard was defending Nowitzki at the rim.

We had to march through the desert for a long time to get to this point and my heart is filled with blood now over the Now.
I am over the moon with this team.

Hand on wood and swinging a dead cat in a graveyard by the full moon while being rubbed by a bruja blanca with an egg to stave off misfortune because shit is truly fun again.
Many a fanbase are still in that desert, lost, with no guiding star to provide even a glimmer of hope.

Our sabbatical hiatus is nothing compared to the eternal vagrant existence of most other teams.

Bowen was defending dirk man to man, and duncan literally was in the paint. manu still flew in from the corner to try to make a hero play.

duncan then went 1-7 from the field in OT and had a traveling turnover while being defended by DeSagana Diop

but at the same time, OKC shot 24% from three, they are not going to be that bad all the time, they are usually shooting 37.4% as a team.

We are playing them two more times in December, we'll see after that if we have a chance to beat them in a 7-game series.

Both teams have rooms for improvements tbh... Spurs shot 31% from 3s, missed 8 FTs and 19 TOs against OKC 14. OKC struggled from 3s but also did not convert enough out of our TOs. Next game will be VERY intersting

Bowen had five fouls and the three centers, all healthy, had played zero minutes.

The real reason we lost that game (and the series) was the corrupt bastards of the referee's association. Review the last 30 seconds of the 2nd half (before OT). Sure Manu fouls Dirk for 2 FT's, but we have a possession before OT. We draw (between Manu and Duncan) something like 7 fouls on that possession, but the refs just won't call a damn thing... If you're calling them at one end, you have to call them at the other too.

This will be intense rivalry for many years.

TBH the thunder have been a thorn to the spurs even in Duncan years. If I recall, we only beat them in 2014 but lost to them in 2012 and 2016 in the playoffs. And 2016 was so disappointing, we should’ve had that year, i don’t even know what happened there.

So we’ll see how this goes this time around!
During that series, Duncan’s second knee went bone on bone, causing his retirement later that summer, after doing tome testing.

He played until the wheels fell off.

We shot terrible in Vegas, but we usually shoot well at home, which will be a fucking problem for OKC. Jamming the lanes leaves two guys open on the weak side. If we hit even our normal percentage, they’ll be in trouble.
