Looks like former SA mayor Ron Nirenberg is going to defeat Peter Sakai for County Judge. Nirenberg was a big driving force behind Project Marvel and was still a huge supporter once he left office. The vote likely wouldn’t have been as close as it was had Nirenberg been in office as opposed to anti marvel Ortiz Jones. This probably will help make future negotiations in setting up the arena go smoother now that a huge Spurs/Project Marvel supporter is back in a position of power in SA.

Very similar to how the current arena was built all this promise and then everything is scrapped except things related to the arena. I read from local news a story that they can either build one small part or go into debt to build the original vision. So yes they will do something to 35 but not the grand vision of a new urban park they promised

Yeah, well, 800 million doesn't buy you much in the way of infrastructure these days so yeah I am not surprised they aren't doing the land bridge and other aspects of that. But that sucks because the land bridge is really important for it. If I was an SA Voter I would feel a way about this, but I would also have thought 800 million for all of that was a pipe dream.

Supposed to be a joint venture between San Antonio, Bexar County, and the Spurs. If I remember right it was 800M from the city, 500M from the Spurs, 300M from the county, and the Spurs paying for cost overruns.
