Because the team will be watching the government to make sure they're not doing anything stupid or improper. If the SPurs are paying for cost overruns why are they canceling? That would make me salty as a voter.
Yup...who knows what that crazy mayor in gina ortiz has planning next.Because the team will be watching the government to make sure they're not doing anything stupid or improper.
Doesn’t matter. Mayor of SA is basically an at large councilman with one vote. She’s been shot down repeatedly trying to block this.Yup...who knows what that crazy mayor in gina ortiz has planning next.
Hopefully they can build some type of pedestrian bridge or something to cross to the alamodome for parking.OK so reading more about it, it looks like they weren't going to do the land bridge study because it was being funded by a federal grant that they were afraid wouldn't come. As someone who works with federal grants who have been illegally cancelled left and right over the past year, that was actually prudent by the city. It seems like maybe they are now proceeding with the study as they feel confident they will get the money. This is probably a result of litigation but I'm not familiar with DOT grants and their litigation specifically. The article I read didn't make it seem like a bait and switch but just more dealing with this insane project scale and all the things that come up when carrying out so many differing aspects of it. That seems normal to me.
Thanks for this, exactly the context I was looking for!The land bridge was put on hold bc of Trump federal cuts and was put on hold before the election even took place.
The convention hotel is up in air bc saws is trying to leverage project marvel into getting a new water chilling plant.
Alamodome renovations were always the last phase and always going to be 10-15 yrs out
The land bridge is something they can shake out of the Holt family's couch cushions when the time comes. Its so wild this essentially nothing burger component of the project is what so many are focused upon.OK so reading more about it, it looks like they weren't going to do the land bridge study because it was being funded by a federal grant that they were afraid wouldn't come. From what I read about the chilling plant is that its also nearing the end of its economic lifespan anyway. So ya, likely SAWS trying to find ways to get others to pay for something they are going to have to replace in the next 15 years anyway. The land bridge was put on hold bc of Trump federal cuts and was put on hold before the election even took place.
