Trade Official 2025-2026 Trade Deadline Thread

they were the best team in the league during the KD years tbh

nephew was the only hope
But that was mostly luck imho. Curry ascended while making 11M a season because of his weak ankles and the cap spiked when KD was a free agent. Their FO was obviously good at the time but "light years ahead" was always bullshit. Luck played a massive hand in their situation tbh

they were reigning champions about to set the wins record when the comment was made, when their big 3 home grown players were all 27 or younger. while they lost in the finals that year, they then won back to back. they probably would have won more if not for absurd injury luck

not only did KD tear his achilles in the 2019 finals, but klay also tore his ACL and missed the entire 19-20 season. and then curry only played 5 games in the 19-20 season. then klay also missed the entire 20-21 season with a torn achilles

then in the very next year they went on to win the title again. so the first time they were somewhat healthy after the durant/klay injuries, they rang, 6 years after the light speed comment. he was right
light years ahead does not mean being the worst team in the NBA 4 years later, regardless of injuries. These dudes thought KD would stay there forever and they fumbled it. Plenty of teams in NBA history had a better run.

most of spurstalk was shitting on the warriors for giving curry 11mil per year tbh

If moving Vooch means more minutes for Jalen Smith at C then that maybe a good thing for the Bulls. Vooch is disgustingly defensively and barely moves the needle on offense.

But now they have a glut of guards with Giddey, Simons, Ivey, White, Dosunmu, Tre. Surely two of those need to be moved. Probably White and Dosunmu.

Vuc and Smith together are +7 btw

yeah so absurd that the Spurs always won 50 games for 19 years
never with duncan, manu, and parker being unavailable for the full season lol

shitting on the warriors for sucking after durant tore his achilles and left, klay tore is ACL and missed the season, and Steph missed all but 5 games is just reaching

Warriors won 39 games in 2021 with Curry missing just 9.

Now compare it to one of the greatest regular season feats noone ever talks about, which is 2022 Jokic.
Rotation: Jokic, Gordon, Barton, Monte Morris, Jeff Green, Bones Hyland, Cousins, Forbes, Nnaji, JaMychal Green, Rivers, Dozier, Campazzo, Davon Reed.
Won 47 games.
None of those players other than Gordon were in the league by the start of 23-24 season and none were old for their age to be the reason. Except Jeff Green.
Then he averaged 31/13/6 on 58% against the Warriors.

Curry just isn't on the level of one man carry jobs top10 players could pull off.

A Lauri -Jackson front court is interesting offensively
Jesus just saw the trade and was thinking wow GG Jackson got the Grizzlies three picks in return? WTF giving up JJJ for that dogshit return?

to be clear, they won 39 games but it was a 72 game season, so they were 39-33. the implication of just taking a random year and putting that win total is that they were sub .500, which thye werent

and the warriors didnt have Klay that year either. and i dont know if this is a warriors or curry discussion (seems you are comparing jokic's individual greatness to Curry). if you want to play that game, Curry was 3rd in MVP voting that year despite the warriors being meh

warriors top scorers besides curry were Wiggins, Oubre, Poole, Wiseman, "Eric Paschall", and Kent Bazemore

The point was that they missed the playoffs.

Damn that roster looks light years ahead

Have never understood the obsession of some to try and diminish the achievement of other teams or players, as though only Spurs titles are worthy of glory while every other requires footnotes.

yes when supporting players take on primary roles, things look a lot worse. they were light years ahead due to the splash bros being a dominant offensive force that wound up changing the game. when lacob made that comment i dont think he was referring to festus ezeli and brandon rush

That's what sports fans do.
