the annoying thing with giannis not going somewhere now, is that it opens up the window for the lakers to get him in some bullshit trade, like when they got Pau.

Giannis is such a puss to not have demanded a trade before this point. He's as responsible as the bucks for wasting his prime

Man I really wish the Spurs would've gotten someone like Kennard. We all know we need a PF but other than that we could really use one more knock down 3 point shooter...

Wolves basically tossed lil dilly in the trash :st-cry:

Still remember how happy he looked to be drafted by the spurs when they called his name :st-cry:

I'll wait for you sweet prince :st-cry:

Sochan not getting traded really takes some steam out of how good this season has been so far :st-madrun:

There's no way the Spurs can keep Sochan around with his sulking on social media lately right? Does he end up being released if they don't trade him?

kennard is fools gold. truly a legendary shooter... but you dont want him handling much more than Lindy Waters minutes these days.

Why exactly should the spurs be picky about trading away 1st round picks? History has shown that once your team gets to a certain level, the least optimal way for them to get good is to do it through selecting a player in the draft. Once you reach a certain level it's highly unlikely adding a player with 0 nba experience is going to help. Could be debated if the spurs are at that level yet but if not, then they are close.

If I had to list all the ways the spurs can get better from this point forward the least efficient and most volatile way for it to happen would be with just selecting players in the draft. Gambling on unknown quantities when you have known quantities isn't a wise way to build a team.
Problem is the Spurs can't build a team like they did once they had the Tim / Tony / Manu core in place where you just paid a little luxury tax to keep a winner together. Under this CBA the Spurs will need to be continually moving off of vets and replenishing with cheap rookie talent around the Wemby / Harper / Castle core. They can do vets until Castle's extension, which is why I'd love to get Aldama for say the 2027 first, but after that they gotta be really careful with paying vets.

I like that Ayo pickup for MIN (which means I hate it from our POV). He's not a true PG, but he has some ball handling chops, is a good defender and can shoot the 3.

I'm mostly tuned in for the Ja fire sale at this point... the Zubac auction will also be interesting.

Seems like the Spurs have decided we're good. I just don't understand it from an asset management perspective. Making good use of expiring deals is one of those sharp at-the-margins strategies that teams operating over the cap need to find a way to maximize, similar with how you utilize SRPs and two ways. Notably, these are all things the Spurs are not yet good at.

I think this is what'll happen. Reaves, three firsts, a couple of swaps plus some Laker trash for Giannis. When you heard that report of teams telling Milwaukee to wait until summer when their offers can get way better it was pretty clear that was coming from LA.

Damn I really want Aldama or Klay and sucks all we're gonna get is a Sochan buyout.
