NCAA Basketball 25-26 Season

Stupid conference games that don't mean jack shit

"...
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Big 12 Conference is ditching its slippery new glass floor for a hardwood court for the final two days of the tournament.

“After consultation with the coaches of our four semifinal teams, I have decided that in order to provide our student-athletes with the greatest level of comfort on a huge stage this weekend, we will transition to a hardwood court for the remainder of the tournament,” Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark said in a statement Thursday night. “We look forward to a great semifinals and championship game.”

Numerous players have slipped when trying to plant. On Thursday, Texas Tech guard Christian Anderson strained a muscle slipping in the No. 16 Red Raiders’ 75-63 loss to No. 7 Iowa State.

“Obviously, the floor is a bit slippery,” Anderson said. “I think I just kind of mis-stepped or did a movement that caused me to slip,”...

Anderson could miss time or not be 100 % for the big tourney because of this ridiculous floor

They actually had a crew sponsored by Windex cleaning that floor during timeouts.

The floor was bullshit. I actually argued for Arizona to boycott the tournament because of the added risk of injury. Glad it’s gone. Sucks it comes at Anderson’s expense when he was playing so well recently.

Even at a 4 seed in the big tourney, Tech was already going to struggle to get to the sweet 16 with these injuries. Probably get a 5 seed now.

Arizona Basketball finishes Regular Season and Conference play 32-2, tied with Duke setting the record for the most AP ranked wins in a season. They had been tied with Duke on the record for Quad1 Wins, but their home win vs BYU fell out of the criteria due to their injury slide, so they finish with 16 Quad1 wins, 1 shy of the record. However, they have the best record vs the elite teams, going 6-0 vs AP ranks 2-7. The four teams those six wins represent are all in contention for the last #1 Seed, so none of them are BS early season wins where the team fell off.

Average AP Rank in their 12 Wins:
Arizona 10.33
Duke 17.5

Total number of B2B games vs AP Ranked opponents:

Arizona 6
Duke 2

Since Late January:

Arizona 4
Duke 0

Must be nice to get one ranked team per week. Arizona played a B2B2B2B stretch vs 9-16-23-2 while injured and sick.

Arizona Conference SOS: Top-20
Duke Conference SOS: Top-70

Arizona should be the Top Overall 1 Seed, but they won’t be. Might not even be second thanks to the Computers slurping Michigan’s metrics vs less Ranked Wins, Lower Ranked Win Average Quality, fewer Top-10 Ranked Wins, Fewer Away Ranked Wins.

Still, Arizona just finished one of the best regular seasons since 1990 in all of College Basketball. Did it starting 3 Freshman in the NIL age where rosters typically are older.

As long as Zona gets a 1 seed I think that's all that'll matter and I think they will

They will. It’s just crazy how one team gets to play their AP ranked Opponents surrounded by fluff and the other has to play 10 of its final 13 games vs AP Ranked Opponents, half of whom are Top-10, all of whom average out a tougher Ranked Opponent, and where 2 of the non-AP Ranked teams played are likely Tournament teams. But the former gets top overall seed, latter probably ends up as 3rd overall.
