I'm not gonna say a lot.

  • Act here the way you would at a sports bar or backyard barbecue.
  • No ugly racism, misogony, homophobia and the like.
  • No politics, no ideology.
  • I'm not gonna put a lot of effort into policing usernames, but zero tolerance if someone wants to come in and claim Kori or TimVP identities
  • Ignoring shit posters is your super power - use it.

This should be a sticky at least for a little while. I’m a fan of no to minimum moderation but the excessive political rhetoric and things you mentioned are a waste of time and I agree about minimizing that.

Some people will be upset about the racism/misogyny/homophobia, but it legit gave ST the terrible reputation it had, despite be home to the best, smartest, most objective Spurs discussion around.

I'm totally on board with policing that aspect of it. There really should be no place for that shit.

Shut up faggot

Kidding

Maybe not
To quote Louis CK, if I saw two guys blowing each other I'd never call them faggots. But if one of them took the dick out of his mouth and said something faggy like people from Phoenix are Phoenicians I'd say SHUT UP FAGGOT. Shut up and suck that dick.

Calling people soft. Again here you go starting problems out of nothing
Stop bro, stop trying to read so much into things. Yall want civility, push back on those going against the established guidelines. You're focusing on the wrong dude rn. Btw, going to throw more homophobic slurs around sir?

you know good and well that what I said was a light-hearted nod to the old culture of Spurs talk. But you want to use it to intentionally start problems just like you always do. Like I said, the powers that be in this new place can do what they will with you. I'm not going to keep going round and round with you like we did back there

Yes, exactly. I know but coming at me for pointing out two jokers isnt some call to fight, argue, nor call each other slurs.

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. ‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭21‬ ‭

This would probably make for a more enjoyable forum

As general rule, less is more when it comes to moderation. Please don't turn this place into reddit.
People just being shit heads for no good reason, fine. But I don't want the kumbaya player love fest that has turned reddit into a cesspool of suckery

Here's maybe a controversial take, but I wouldn't mind an upvote/downvote system as a signal to people "yo, your bullshit ain't resonating" or "solid take" (though likes accomplish the latter). Don't want to turn this into reddit, but I thought I'd throw that idea out there.

I would definitely downvote this post.

no, hard disagree. too reddit. the current system works fine imo

Fair enough! (Wanted to try out the multi-quote function on the new board. This works nicely)
The main problem IMO with a downvote system is it has an ever so slight chilling effect, and makes people more unwilling to post unpopular takes or go against the grain...follow this trend long enough and you get reddit, and we all know why that place sucks or we'd be posting there instead.

Good points and can't argue against that.
