Draft March Madness Draft Watch: Spurs Prospect Tracker

Should have been a 4 pt possibility if they were calling it technically.
Hand to hand.

Great season by Michigan. Yaxel played hurt and it shows but still made some plays down the stretch. Not Mara's best night offensively, but they don't sniff the Championship game without his defense and they don't beat UCONN tonight without it either. And Morez Johnson had the best game of the 3 tonight. All 3 will be FRP's this year.

Yaxel played hurt showed a lot of character tbh. He’d be the SJax of this team imo. And I think they need a player like that (Sochan was just too much of a knucklehead). Too bad he’d be picked waayy before Spurs pick.

Mullins may have hit one of the greatest shots in history, but did he really help himself in the tour? overall he shot pretty poor (37%FG, 29% 3s) and outside shooting his impact is limited in every categorie.
I doubt he will be picked in the lottery, not with so much guard talent in this draft.

He looks really small out there. I appreciate that he'll bang around, but he's tiny. I respect Sheppard for learning more on-ball duties and Mullins may have to do that.

YL.webp

Looks like he's already spoken to some teams. It's likely he's OKC-bound .

He talked to teams last year when he went through the pre-draft process, even had a promise from Philly in the 2nd round (pick 35 IIRC). I wouldn't be shocked if OKC targets him, it'd make a lot of sense (as well as Mara or Krivas), but I wouldn't read this as a lock to get there.

I think thats going to be the question that determines his draft position. He's listed at 6'6" and I've got him pretty high on my board, but I'm assuming that height is correct. If he comes in a good bit shorter it will drop him.

A lot is made about his dumb statements (which isn't untrue, he does run his mouth more than he should) but reportedly he turned down a massive NIL offer after he had committed to Michigan; he took a big gamble while playing hurt in the last couple of games when he could have justifiably shut it down like most do; and he's already showing he knows his role and won't go to the NBA trying to impose his "alpha dog" mentality. Those are also signs of 'character' and 'maturity'. As we say here, "los melones se acomodan con el carro andando", which is a way of saying sometimes "the mess sorts itself out on the fly" and maybe the immature aspects of his personality could be held in check when he finds himself in different group dynamics where he doesn't feel the leeway to behave like the class clown.
