Damn, would have wanted to see Boozer vs Peterson, but the Johnnies are a hell of a team and deserved that win.
 
Horribly executed defensive plays by Kansas. If you are going to foul 4 times in a row why not take some actual punches at the ball and maybe get lucky? These wrap up intentional fouls to reduce the clock for St Johns without even taking swipes are so dumb.
 
St. John's wins at the buzzer on a way too easy layup. Horrible defense by Kansas.
 
Nate Ament is really struggling so far in this tournament. Having another stinker today. 4/11 FG, 0 assists, & 2 TO's. And he's not defending well either. Looks way too timid out there, like he's playing scared. Needs to get out of his own head and just hoop.
 
Apparently Ament is playing on a bad ankle. Didn't know that. Definitely affecting his play. He was noticeably limping after the game. Tennessee survives Virginia's late push and heads to the Sweet 16 for the 4th straight season.
 
Ament needs a ton of seasoning. Seems like he has some good initial skills, but he'll need work. I'm getting Risacher/Cody Williams vibes from him.

A bad pick in the top 10, a worthy gamble past it.
 
Haugh with a big 3 to push the lead to 2 and then made a layup right after. He’s like a big ball of fire. Haugh is a permanent fixture in my top 10 just because of the pace he plays. Yesterday, Mitch was talking about pace and momentum. It’s very easy to see Haugh fit in our offensive style, while others like Yaxel and even Zuby who I really like - the ball may stop because they act like bigs on offense and assess the floor first before handing off.

That lanky, skilled (inefficient) "shooter" who struggles to create separation archetype carries a lot of risk, they need to reach very high levels at their game to just survive. It seems to me he's a more likely target for a team like Chicago or even OKC (with one of their picks).
 
Damn, just winning plays by Haugh. This is why I like this kid. He’s everywhere… Manu vibes. What he has translates to all levels of basketball.

Edit: and just as I posted that, he makes another big pass to Condon!

Yeah, I hate the archetype myself. I prefer a defense foundation and then learn offense later vs an offense foundation and then learn defense later.
 
Bennett Stirtz doing irreparable damage to his draft stock in this game. This is rough to watch. 0/9 from 3 and counting and just poor decision-making overall. About to cost Iowa the game.
 
Down goes Florida. First #1 Seed to lose. Cenac and Houston's path to the FF just a got a lot easier if they can beat #3 Seed Illinois.
 
Given his age, I think Haugh will float around our range. I compared him to Christian Braun a while back. Different positions, both older players who won championships and are more toolsy guys. The Spurs don't need guys who need usage or much run for them right now, so he's the sort that fits.
