Not a lot of notes in this one. I'll caveat my grades by saying I had an upper bowl vantage point.
Can't allow the opponents a 50% OREB% and expect to win. We'll learn and grow.
Surprising but maybe not shocking low number of grades submitted.
Back to the real games on Thursday.
What You Said:
- @spurs10 - I actually enjoyed watching Harper, Castle, and Luke. The rest of the game was an OREB nightmare and the Knicks deserved the win.
- @ginobilized - This game was a crucial step in developing our youngsters and it showed a lot about where we are, how far we've come and how much growth lies ahead. There's no substitute for losing to build a winner. The growing pains will continue as the stakes get higher. There's no other way. Castle and Harper look like THE backcourt of the future for the NBA. Both came to play and delivered under the bright lights. Kornet and Vassell were effective in their roles and Fox had some great moments before he manifested the 2nd coming of Turnobili. Barnes and Champ had really tough nights and expose our forward weaknesses. Wemby has a lot of maturing to do. He needs to keep his eyes on the prize of a tournament and set his sights on winning the last game vs the penultimate game. He forced things all night and made some very questionable decisions. Mitch was outcoached, but, who do you play instead of Barnes? How does anyone succeed keeping Mitchell Robinson off the glass? One strategy I noticed that teams may start employing is locking down Barnes and Champ and seeing if our stars can win it without them. We are an OG type and a big body backup center away from being a true contender.
- @heyheymymy - OG Anunoby had a great game and really impressed tonight. Congrats to the New York Knicks Cup Champs! In the end the house always wins as the Spurs hot dice cool off.
- @Guru of Nothing - Pure what, exactly? Bumped Mitch from 1 star to 2 stars simply for closing with Wemby/Castle/Fox/Harper/Vassell lineup.
- @LeBowen - Wemby kept wasting possessions and Mitch didn't care about it. Barnes and Champagnie kept stinking the place up, but were still in the game. Fox was completely out of rythm by the end and was bad down the stretch. Vassell was his usual, overpaid self. Just average. I feel bad for Harper and Castle, they showed off only to be let down by the veterans.
