10 in a row, our first official winning season in years, and 1 game back in the loss column from OKC!
Scott's Notes
  • Am ugly win, but sometimes you gotta win ugly... credit to Mitch on this one for riding with the right players at the right times, avoiding the temptation to just plug in Wemby playing shitty into more minutes with a hope and a prayer, like some folks were calling for. Also credit to this group for not getting too down. Another 15+ point comeback successfully completed.
  • Free Throws... sheeeeeeesh. Lots of guilty parties on this one, but especially Fox. If he hits those FTs throughout the game we're talking about a performance that is probably a universal 4 or 5, instead to me it was a 3 bordering on a 2, especially since he didn't impact the game as a playmaker as much we he has been - though he did have a few potential assists left on the table with missed shots. Not his worst game, but this is one that has me shaking my head. He had the best game amongst our Big 3 though.
  • The worst we've seen offensively from Wemby in a long time. I want to see him shake it off tonight. Defensively, he was still a force on the lower block, but we have to find a way to get him engaged offensively earlier to avoid nights like this.
  • Devin and Dylan were obvious bright spots, but shout out to Champ and Unc. Both hit some big 3s, but also found other ways to fill up the stat sheet. 6 boards and 5 assists from Champ and check out sticky fingers Unc with 3 steals!
  • 29 minutes for Dylan, for those who like to watch the clock.
  • We're just gonna forget this one ever happened, Keldawg...
What You Said:
  • @mazerrackham - Pretty frustrating game to watch despite the win, not gonna lie. I probably gave out too many 4s considering we almost lost this game, but just felt like an overall up and down game from effort/consistency that it's hard for me to pin on one person, other than Vic forcing too much. A win is a win.
  • @LeBowen - Good teams get the W even when playing bad.
  • @spurraider21 - Wemby gets a 2. Just not good enough. He would have gotten a 1 if it wasnt for the defense down the stretch. Speaking of 1's, Keldon earned this. I dont hand out 1's often, and my description for a 1 is this player was actively hurting our chance to win the game to the point it feels like sabotage. Harper got a 4. He kept us alive in the first half, went pretty quiet late, and then bricked free throws. Fox was a tough one to rank. I ended up giving him a 4. His overall performance was a 3, but he hit several clutch 4th quarter shots... then missed crunchtime free throws. But i think the late shotmaking trumps the missed FTs, so he climbed to a 4. Devin is an easy 5. Once again, carried a lackluster offense. He tried on defense but just wasnt very effective. Still, the offense outweighs, as long as he's not passing out of midair. HB got a 4. Made a few nice defensive plays and buried a big, deep 3. 2-4 from 3 overall. Nice game for unc.

Definitely a difficult game to score, both on the court and grade wise. Should have been a loss but we'll take all the Ws we can. A young squad like this will need home court advantage to have a game or two to steady their nerves in, hopefully, multiple series.

The demeanour of this team…Special tbh.
A physical, bruising game against Detroit a couple of days prior followed by this equally combative, quick-sandy affair, trailing by 12 entering the fourth, on the first night of a b2b; undoubtedly we throw in towel in years past.
And yet they fought, scratched and clawed their way to a win. Mitch gave them the opportunity to do so.
I would argue that this was a 5 star game from him as a result.
