SPURS BEAT DOWN THE THUNDER ONCE AGAIN, IMPROVE TO 23-7

Scott's Notes:

Scott's Notes:
- What a Merry Christmas indeed! When we knew we would face OKC in the Cup Semis, I was confident we would win at least one of those three games... I did not really think we'd win all three and especially not the last two in such resounding fashion. The league has officially been put on notice.
- Mr. Fox was Fantastic in his Christmas debut. I feel like Fox is relishing his escape from basketball purgatory in Sacramento and what it means to be on a premier franchise making real noise (not cute, Beam Team noise) and playing Christmas Day games. The lights were certainly not too bright for him tonight! Many folks have pointed out how De'Aaron seems completely bought into the team game here. I love how there are games where he knows he has to step up and carry the scoring load, and other games he can sit back and let his gravity create for others. A casual might see a dip in his averages (ignoring the increased efficiency) and say he's having a "down year", but the truth is that his gravity is part of what allows for the team game to thrive here. He is a key part of a machine, a machine that does not function the same way without all of its parts.
- Steph continues to thrive as a bully, with another efficient performance, going 8-11 with two of those misses being 3s (I did note he swished 1 or 2 threes that did not count and his form continues to look solid). She shot 5 FTs but seemed like it could have been 10, he does such a great job of drawing contact. My only complaint is that he continues to have moments in the game where he commits stupid or lazy turnovers. If he can just cut those out... watch out! That's probably a 2 point swing in DRTG just by those TOs he commits (he's at 5.9 TOV/100, so I might even be underestimating that number).
- Wemby put in his most minutes since coming back. Might we see the minutes restriction about to come off? He had a couple of absolutely soul crushing 3s and completely changed the complexion of the OKC offense when he was in the game. I was close to a 5 because of the defensive impact but he had a couple of offensive possessions that were a little too cute for my liking (and had 3 TOV himself). One play I want to call out, the one where he passed to Dylan on the baseline for a dunk. That was a great play by him but he had Keldon WIDE OPEN at the top of the 3pt line for a good 5 seconds and he completely missed him, Fox was even pointing it out to him during the play. I don't think Wemby saw the Harper play developing, it looked like he planned on going up for a shot. That's an example where I think sometimes Wemby can get a little tunnel vision-y. In this case, he saved it by making a great pass to Dylan, but normally you'd want him to make that pass to a wide open Keldon.
- Speaking of Keldon, another energy filled performance off the bench. Honestly, at this point the only thing stopping him from making a real run at 6MOY is Wemby coming off the bench!
- Devin and Champ didn't do much offensively, but both played solid defense and Champ once again provided some strong rebounding. We need to become accustomed to the fact that every game we are going to have some guys who look like they didn't do much offensively, but still played really good games. Devin was almost a 4 for me because of his defense this game, and I see a lot of you did give him 4s.
- Korndog and Unc Barnes with solid, vet performances we've come to expect from them, and Dylan with another performance beyond his years.
- Shout out Mitch... he had the guys UP for these games. I want to see us close out the year with 3 more wins at home now. Let's take care of business tomorrow versus Utah!
- @Area 51.247 - Offensive Shootout?
Defensive Squeezeout?
Growing by the game in every style and every facet of the game. Thanks, Spurs, for taking on the challenge and gifting fans with the joy of great individual play within a team ball concept.

- @couchman - At this point there can be zero doubt left that we are a legit title contender. We have the talent, we have mental toughness, and our coaching staff has done wonders with a roster that has faced a lot of injuries so far. We don’t have the experience, but perhaps we could add some of that with a move before the trade deadline to get a big or PF who can help us against the superstar bigs we’ll face in the playoffs.
- @Robz4000 - Team should strongly consider pushing for the 1 seed at this point imo.
- @teamduncan21 - The game looks ugly and physical but happy with the Spurs win. Despite leading the whole game it felt like thunder would go on a run anytime. Quite lucky they missed most of their 3s. But this shows Spurs is legit and can hang around.
- @Guru of Nothing - I'd Mitch a 6 if I could
- @brazil - Well it’s official we are into reigning champ heads for good. They are seriously hoping to not meet the Spurs in POs
- @LeBowen - More of the same, tbh. Everyone did their job, other than Fox getting scorching hot it's not like anyone had a game they can't repeat, Thunder coaching staff has a lot to think about.
