SPURS BEAT THE BLAZERS, IMPROVE TO 12-5
Scott's Notes
Scott's Notes
- Fantastic Mr. Fox. Cannot wait until we get the team at full strength and Fox feeling comfortable with Wemby and Castle. It's gonna be fun
- Big shout out to Champ and Keldon for crashing the boards against the team who had size on us. I was really concerned we were going to see Cling Kong go for 20 and 20 on us but we outrebounded them by 9. I'm going to assume Corliss Williamson is behind this, because we're top 10 (tied for #6 in fact) in raw rebounding, #6 in raw DREB, and #4 in REB% and #6 in DREB%. This is a revelation for us this season that cannot be understated. Keldon also continued to bring big energy to the floor that is underrated.
- Also big ups to Dev who played a great game as our #2 with Wemby and Castle still out
- Rounding out the starting 5, Barnes and Kornet had low key solid games. Kornet didn't fill up the stat sheet but his work on Clingan allowed the rest of our team to scoop up those boards
- Dylan clearly isn't in game shape yet but I thought he played a great game in his first one back. His return is such a difference maker
- Jeremy... yikes. That was an 8 minutes that may impact his future more than he'd probably like. Really really really bad.
- Carter Bryant was also not great, but not nearly as tragic. He brings defensive intensity and energy. He should just not be allowed to do anything but shoot corner 3s right now. But in reality... I expect him to head down to Austin once Wemby and Castle are back.
- Kelly wasn't great, but he brought competence to the lineup that made a huge difference... which leads me to...
- Bravo Mitch. You saw that Sochan was hurting the team and you made the executive decision to send him to sit with Bismack and Riley Minix.
- @Em-City: Great game from Devin (5) - defense was passable but importantly he took and made the right shots at the right time.
- @Area 51.247: Grateful to have two dynamic, disruptive and resilient point guards in action. Puts a constant pressure on the defense that breaks it down over time.
- @Davidicus: I originally had Luke at a 3 but bumped it to 4. Stat sheet isn’t great, but he really is doing the dirty work for us down low, tirelessly. Another tall task against Clingan and he battled well. His defense and rebounding seemed to get better as the game went on, and he played well in the 4th.
- @spursfanfromafar: Johnson and Champs are doing a fabulous job of rebounding and keeping Spurs possessions alive. Vital role players. Barnes was also reliable and he seems to be the swing factor for the Spurs. We win every game when he really turns up.
- @spurs10: Love this win. Fox was super. Great to see Harper back.
- @Snake Eyes: Bottom line. Fox and Vassell delivered.
- @heyheymymy: Fox was a superstar level hero tonight. Great to see Sidy and Blake Wesley.
- @LeBowen: Bryant can be useful if he gets told he's not allowed to dribble the ball, but the Spurs are probably looking at his long-term development.
