I've been a few times before (like Ginobili's retirement ceremony) but it was often for quick 2 day trips from Canada. In town for a solid 9-10 days thanks to a nice quirk in the schedule that has Spurs playing Pistons, Clippers, Rockets, Celtics and Nuggets.

I'll be doing plenty of research on my own, but any thoughts on any must do's, whether it is food or sight seeing (and yes, I've done the Alamo haha) I'm all ears!

The community will be very upset with you if someone important gets injured when you're at one of the games, just sayin'. You've got a reputation!

Mi Tierra used to be amazing but it jumped the shark in 2020. "We Never Close" -- my arse!! Sellouts. My personal favorite Tex-Mexican food is El Rodeo De Jalisco a few miles east of my house. If you could only do one of Six Flags or Sea World, the Six Flags here is much better. Obviously, a visit to the riverwalk and Alamo downtown is a must for any tourist. If you want a lot of great food for cheap the Bud Jones on the SW side is awesome for old fashioned Texan white-people food like chicken fried steaks, it's kind of in the hood but I have positive memories of watching Spurs wins there, most notably Game 6 over OKC in 2014

For BBQ I really like taking a drive up to Lockhart to eat at Black's or Smitty's. I like the brisket better at Blacks, and the sausage better at Smitty's. There's another legendary BBQ joint a few miles down the road in Luling, called City Market, which is also mindblowingly awesome. Quality is pretty much the same at all three IMO. Of all them Blacks is the only one with good sides though; love their jalapeno cornbread. Don't expect to have meat if you show up for dinner though, they can sell out pretty early. Favorite chicken fried steak in the area is at Tip Top Cafe on Fredricksburg Road. Favorite burger is the cheddar cheesy at Chris Madrids, though I really gotta try the place started by his sister on the westside after the family sold the place (still tastes the same to me as when Chris was running it 30 years ago though).

If you want outdoors shit Enchanted Rock up in Fredricksburg is pretty cool. Also really like Lost Maples, though I usually go there in the fall when you can see the color change. Maybe if you get lucky you can drive to South Padre Island to see one of Elon's rockets blow up? South Padre is a lot of fun if you wanna do a quick beach trip in between game days. Love getting the flounder, red snapper, and shrimp at Los Tortugos right before the bridge to South Padre Island from Port Isabel. Alternatively, another awesome couple of days trip in downtime between games is Big Bend National Park. Love camping at the Chisos Basin campground, such awesome views of Casa Grande plus some nice hikes like South Rim, Emory Peak, or if you don't mind off-trail Casa Grande. Big Bend has one of the darkest skies in the US so stargazing is great there. If you get lucky on dates lining up might even have a chance to look through a 36 inch telescope at McDonald Observatory.

Wouldn't pass up the San Antonio Mission Trail; one of twenty-six United States, twenty-two Canadian, and thirty-six Mexican UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Many are still functioning parishes with services.
