Do we want to preemptively discuss Giannis to OKC here?
Honestly? They have one guy they can throw the ball to in the half court when they need a bucket, SGA. Everyone else needs to be fed the ball on a cut or off a pick. Giannis would be a second real bucket getter. The only question is the price.

Won't happen this season, they can't make a trade for a max player before Williams/Chet extensions kick in.
Hartenstein's contract would have to be included and then another player assuming it's just one of Williams/Chet getting traded.

If Giannis is available next summer, trading Chet for him would be a no-brainer, tbh.

I dont think Milwaukee does that unless OKC throws in a ton of first round picks including tbe clippers first

“Hey De’Aaron. Thanks for leading this team while Victor and Steph are healing from their injuries. By the way, we’re trading you to the Bucks.”

Yeah seem like something the Spurs would do

February 2005 called. "Hey, Malik, thank you for busting your ass and being a core contributor to two championship rings, but you're not tall enough to guard Shaq if we have to play the Heat in the Finals, so you're headed to the shitty 15 win Knicks for a random rim protector named Muhammad who can't play offense but hey he's 7 feet tall"

What do you mean by that? I never followed Dwight much. What happened in the lead-up to his trade from the Magic?

In 2011 or 2012, it was reported that Dwight wanted a trade. But he did not really admit to it (guess he wanted to be the 'nice guy' for his fans and so don't want to admit that he requested for a trade) and kinda was giving passive aggressive and mixed signal to Orlando. And behind the scene he was trying to get the Front Office to fire the head coach (Stan Van Gundy). Hence, it become messy and also mess up the team chemistry before he was eventually traded to the Lakers.

Cool. Thanks. Sounds like it was a mess. Hopefully Giannis isn't doing something similar.

I think it's simple. Giannis won't ask for a trade but he wont sign an extension when he will be eligible for it and will play out of the Bucks if they don't improve. This isnt the Dwight Howard situation where he had three outstanding seasons as a defensive player but never improved on offense and couldn't lift the Magic to the title..created friction because of this and weaseled his way out.

Giannis has won the NBA title already...and is still playing like a MVP except the talent around him is pathetic (partially because the Bucks tried hard to spend their way into building Giannis' support cast which withered away after the title run either because of injuries (Middleton and later Lillard) or age (Holiday and Lopez).

Giannis is also somewhat of a unique player ( somewhat like Wemby but yet different) who needs shooters around him plus a stretch five and he himself is getting a lot of concerning injuries which are problematic because of the way he plays and as he ages. That makes him a tough guy to trade as well. In sum, though I think the Bucks will trade him in the offseason just to replenish their picks. The Hawks were a good fit ( I still think so) but they seem to be inexplicably after Anthony Davis. Maybe Giannis get his way to Golden State as a Donkey replacement when the Dubs finally realised that Donkey is now Ass.

It is getting really ugly in Milwaukee. I thought Myles Turner might be a good player for them but damn he is awful and has done nothing out there. Still don't know he gets traded this year because they are going to want to work with Giannis on a trade and where is the best fit? I have no idea where he ends up? He wants to go to a contender but who is contending that is willing to part ways with serious draft capital? He will be 32 next year and has injury issues to his knees.. He also loves playing for Greece so off-season rest is NOT something he does.. He may only have 2 or 3 peak years to go...

Milwaukee definitely has no reason to trade him right now when the offers are terrible. But he will 95% be traded this offseason because he is not going to sign the extension they offer him this summer and he has an opt-out year after next. I imagine they're hoping the Spurs keep on this cold snap and panic into offering Harper or Castle plus picks this summer.

“When people don’t believe in me”… child. That’s giannis. A little kid who is incurious about reality.

Yes, people are booing because they don’t believe in you, personally. It has nothing to do with your team being a turkey with no path to improvement. It’s because they don’t think you, the 2 time mvp, are good at basketball.

Giannis can’t shoot, and would want the same operating space on offense as Wemby.

Giannis is once in a lifetime player, especially for a historically irrelevant franchise like the Bucks.
They'll hold onto him for as long as they can, regardless of the standings and their chances to make playoff impact.

If they get lowball offers in the summer, they'll probably rather keep him than let him go for nothing.

Giannis would obv improve this team considerably but it wouldn't solve any of our shooting issues. And it'd cost one of Castle/Harper + multiple picks at the very least to acquire him. Highly unlikely tbh.

If the offers are that bad, the Bucks can just hold on to him all the way into free agency, then have the ability to S&T him to the team he wants to sign with and get a little bit of draft capital back, or at worst an enormous TPE they can absorb contracts into for more draft capital down the road. Almost no teams go into any offseason with enough cap space to fit a max contract anymore, and even those are usually bad teams that Giannis wouldn't want to go to anyway.

I worry about the fit with him and Wemby more than anything else. Both on the court and personality. Wemby a real alpha dog I doubt he trying to share the stage with somebody like Giannis. Right now everything is clearly built around him but if Giannis comes here that might not be the case.

Giannis just recently said that he will never ask for a trade. Clearly his legacy in the "court of public opinion" matters to him, and I doubt he would suddenly change his mind just because his team got booed when they were blown out.
I would be shocked if there would be a trade now before the February deadline.
