Castle the obvious and better PG with Harper eventually coming back as back up pg. Fox redundant and cant shoot the three like we need him to be as a 2 guard paired with Castle who is figuring out his own 3 shot. Fox aint improving his career 33 percent 3 point shooting at this stage of his career.
Rockets have Nets unprotected next year.
I don't think you can even say its clear Castle is a PG. What is clear is he's a great secondary career. I exact him to lead the team in assists, but that doesn't make him a PG. I think the only reason this board/Spurs fans are thinking of him as PG is cuz we needed one when we drafted him. He is much more Jimmy Butler with better creation skills (or more like lob target, like 1/2 of Castle assists are lobs) then he is Cade, Hali, name your PG. For Castle to be a PG is really needs to clean up his game, limit the TOs, be more secure and controlled with the ball, etc. I don't know that we even want that. Manu got to be so dynamic because he did not have to play that controlled when playing next to Tony. Its a different role and I think the team is much likely more dynamic and scary with that TP/Manu = Fox/Castle dynamic. Let Castle play a bit more reckless while he's still learning the NBA ropes. It also frees up more bandwidth to play D, shoulder the fulltime PG burden will almost certainly reduce his D ability. Let someone else handle the new full-court pressure the NBA is doing, someone with a tighter handle, and just let Castle cook.
And since it seems you want to use a 3 game sample size (more likely crazily over-reaction to 1 bad game) Castle avg 5 full TOs vs 6.6 Ast per game in his 8 games without Fox and only 1.6TOs vs 11.3 Ast playing next to Fox.
Some PGs create lots of assists, and some non-PGs create a lot of assists.
To me its pretty clear Fox helps Castle and Castle plays better with him. Fox adds gravity, Fox requires a ton of D attention. Having Fox + Castle + Wemby on the floor together, especially with Barnes being a sharpshooter is a D nightmare.
Yes, Fox looked very bad last game, so did Vassell and Wemby for 3 quarters. The O totally stalled when Castle left the court, but so did the D. This is training camp for Fox and the team to learn to play with Fox + Castle + Wemby together. Give it a chance to breathe.
Also, Houston is very happy with KD, they're not trading him. Full stop.
