NBA Fire Nico

if Nico gets axed, watch for the Lakers hire him in some capacity.

Moving to General NBA forum (where OP already created this thread)

He won't make it til the deadline but we all know it really isn't entirely his fault. He put together a really good team around Luka that played exactly to his strengths. He had some stinkers in there for sure but made a lot of solid deals to build that roster. The owners wanted Luka traded. They now have their fall guy

Nico: “AD good. Luka fat. Trade please.”

Owners who don’t know what color a basketball is: “yeah whatever. I can’t tell any of them apart anyway”

…then you get post hoc stuff from dumont acting like he has any clue what’s going on. But to paint Nico as a patsy is not it IMO. Hes sniffing his own cooking here.

Yeah, I don't know if this is Nico being extraordinarily stupid or the owners being stupid. The Adelsons are demons on earth and some of the biggest Trumpers around, so I grant them a lot of agency here in the fuck-up, but I also think Nico is complicit. Couldn't wring any other assets out of this? Couldn't refuse and walk away?

tbh seeing Nico getting actually fired....then the conspiracy on the rigged draft might not be true. Mavs just happened to get lucky with the 1st pick :st-lol:

In other news, Steven A Smith still can't pronounce "Doncic" or "Wembanyama." Donchick, WembanyaNa

Is Nico a fall guy?

Some said he felt disrespected by Luka because he gave him the cold shoulder

Nico's mistake wasn't trading Luka, it was doing so behind everyone's back without doing his due diligence to maximize the return. That didn't make sense to anyone in the league other than himself, and when something like that happens there's two possibilities: you're a genius (0.1%) or an idiot (99.9%). And Nico wasn't a genius.

I'm still convinced Nico just didn't like Luka personally. Nico seems like a buttoned-up OCD type plus he's a serious Christian. My guess is he viewed Luka as a slovenly tattoo'd beer drinking Euro heathen, and couldn't reconcile trying to work with him. No hard evidence, totally going on intuition with this one.

I'll still never forget fat failson DuMont citing Company Time Shaq as a guy who was always training hard and in peak physical condition in that fuck fat Luka press conference they had after trading him.

You usually want to fire your shitty management before they completely fuck over your organization, but I guess now is better than never :st-lol:

Bubye Nico. When does the fire sale start?

What a mess. Have they named a replacement? Do Kidd, Irving and AD stay long-term. Do they waive Klay? Can they build around Flagg?
Mostly, I’m just glad we don’t have to worry about them too much as we ascend in the West.

Nico is a classic case of someone who somehow accidentally gets elevated to a leadership position despite having zero personal or social skills, because of a few career wins that probably had more to do with someone else. He's the type of person who is easily triggered into disliking someone and, instead of talking it out or working out their differences, just ghosts them and gets rid of them. But he clearly makes a good first impression, because he's somehow duped Nike execs, players, Cuban and Patrick Dumont into thinking he should be taken seriously.

Nico definitely didn't like Luka's approach, probably had a few disagreements with him, and needed to get him off the team because the growing rift emasculated him. But what's overlooked is that he was creating a toxic environment inside the organization too. He was unapproachable, aloof, and intimidating (mostly from the standpoint that people felt if you made any negative impression on him, your career would be over and you might not even hear why.)

He's a soft little bitch. Hopefully he'll dupe another Western Conference team into letting him blow their franchise up too.

AD is from Chicago and has said he wants to finish his career there.

AD for Vucevic/Collins/Coby White and a top10 protected Bulls pick would be reasonable.
White would be the ballhandler/score Mavs need and they'd get rid of long term salaries.
