NBA Fire Nico

They only have control of their 26 pick. They have to tank this year cause they can’t for the next 4 years after.

Davis gets traded for sure.

My guess is Davis gets traded to bulls or hornets.

Now which organization is desperate enough to trade for AD? The warriors? Clippers?

What a mess. Have they named a replacement? Do Kidd, Irving and AD stay long-term. Do they waive Klay? Can they build around Flagg?
Mostly, I’m just glad we don’t have to worry about them too much as we ascend in the West.
Kidd wanted out last summer, but they wouldn’t release him from his contract. I think AD is 100% on the market now. I think Irving could be if he shows good recovery.

You usually want to fire your shitty management before they completely fuck over your organization, but I guess now is better than never :st-lol:

Bubye Nico. When does the fire sale start?
Too bad they already pissed away Grimes. I like Max Christie but not gonna be a lot of minutes for him here once Harper is healthy, so guess PJ Washington is the only player worth swiping.

AD is from Chicago and has said he wants to finish his career there.

AD for Vucevic/Collins/Coby White and a top10 protected Bulls pick would be reasonable.
White would be the ballhandler/score Mavs need and they'd get rid of long term salaries.
Not sure why Chicago trades Vecevic White and a Top-10 pick. I understand salary is an issue with Davis as he’s a $55m dude, but that’s an awful lot for a player who won’t play in half the games your paying, is post-prime, and isn’t an alpha.

I wonder if Dallas fans would agree to moving out the entire org (Flagg included) in exchange for a fresh expansion team.

I’d like to move this group to Vegas and swap in one of the new teams. This is depressing and flagg’s too interesting to have to go through this.

Not sure the NBA needs the Vegas heat right now. First, the market is now wildly oversaturated. How in the hell is Vegas a 4-sport city? Awful awful big picture thinking there. It’s not one.

Their entire city is based upon good economies and there’s a million things to do in Vegas besides a random ass regular season game for a baseball, hockey, or basketball team. Only reason football even merits a discussion is it’s the freaking Raiders. Hockey got there first and best so I’d imagine they have the other half the market share.

And then… after all that… you add the gambling aspect of Vegas to the gambling addled NBA subplot.

Only team going to Vegas will be owned by LeBron, and I’m not certain that’s a given any longer. LeBron should champion the Seattle SuperSonics return.

Nico will eventually go to LA or back to Nike. For now he can just enjoy the money from his contract. Total fleecing of the Mavericks by Nike and the league.

My first roommate in college was a Nigerian Christian guy named Chris who held fellowship meetings in his room, and was well known in the dorms as a christian guy. He was actually a good dude, though we had little in common. He was the absolute worst driver on the planet, which was kind of comical, and I joked with my other new friends that his driving was a sign that he was genuinely dying to meet his maker. Anyway, a few days into this new life, there was a knock at our door, and when I answered, a very tidy and carefully put together black guy said to me cheerfully, "Hello, friend! Have you heard the good news?!" I thought maybe there was a party I didn't know about, but then I asked, "no, what news?" and he said "the news about Jesus Christ our savior returning!" That guy kinda looked like Nico, and now I always think of him when I hear Nico stories. "Have you heard the good news?! We've acquired Anthony Davis!"
Another funny thing that happened that week was a new student fresh from Nigeria came to visit Chris. I was boiling some hot dogs, and when they emerged out of Chris's room after a few minutes, I asked them both if they'd like a hot dog, and the new guy looked at me, completely horrified, and asked, "You are eating dog??" His was the same look that Dallas fans had when they heard Luka had been traded.

That's hilarious.

Nobody dislikes the entire Mavericks organization more than I do, and I'm still sick about Luka getting traded because I know it's all a scam and I worry they'll get away with it.

Some combination of Nike, the league and the Lakers colluded to steal Luka and gift him to LA. It's even worse if they fixed the draft lottery to cover for it.

mavs fans cannot say anymore... we have Nico, you don't :st-lmao:

5 fake ringer trade scenarios

1) Kings receive: Anthony Davis
Mavericks receive: Zach LaVine, Keon Ellis, and a 2027 first-round pick

2) Bulls receive: Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell
Mavericks receive: Nikola Vucevic, Kevin Huerter, Coby White, and Chicago’s unprotected first-round pick in 2029

3) Raptors receive: Anthony Davis
Mavericks receive: RJ Barrett, Jakob Poeltl, and two future first-round picks

4) Hornets receive: Anthony Davis
Mavericks receive: Miles Bridges, Collin Sexton, and three future first-round picks (including the Mavs’ 2027 first-rounder)

5) Pistons receive: Anthony Davis and Klay Thompson
Mavericks receive: Jaden Ivey, Tobias Harris, Ron Holland, and Isaiah Stewart

Mavs should absolutely do #4, but then instantly try to find another home for Bridges. I wouldn't want him anywhere near Cooper Flagg.

Mavs fans are going to be shocked when they see the meager return for AD. LOL I love it

My favorite fake Davis trade is along with Williams to the 76ers for George, McCain and a 1st.

The Mavericks would alleviate the C logjam and add much needed ball handling and shooting, while the 76ers would kill two birds with one stone by filling the PF hole with a C who can more easily masquerade as one next to Embiid while proving more insurance for him.

How about:
  • AD for Trae
Mix in Toronto:
  • AD to Toronto
  • Trae to Dallas
  • Quickly to Atlanta
And then Dallas should also try to move on from Kyrie. Not sure what Kyrie's value is for trade deadline deals, and it might be best to hold on for better opportunities.

Suggestions are approximate and don't bother to match salaries or additional compensation to balance out, but they are in the ballpark.

This is similar to the Bill Simmons proposal of Ja to Toronto, Trae Young to Memphis, and Quickley, Murray-Boyles, and a FRP to Atlanta. If I'm Memphis or Dallas in these scenarios, I take Quickley plus assets over Trae... To me, Trae is undersized, overpriced, and just not worth it. Quickley's happier to be a role player and let Flagg be the star, Boyles-Murray might be a very useful player in the future, and there's financial space left to add another impactful player.

Quickley is a straight up negative contract, Atlata would be better off letting Trae expire rather than doing that.

CMB is a useful player with good potential. Davis is chubby old and made of matchsticks.
