This was a fun read worth sharing as we approach the trade deadline.

Spurs make the list twice... one good one, and one bad one.

Lakers are the beneficiaries of 5 of the 10 worst trades in history :st-lol:

I didn't know that the Pacers traded away what would become the #2 pick in the Jordan draft (where the Blazers took Sam Bowie). MJ could have been a Pacer in a bizarro world.

Could the editor pick a fatter photo?

Probably
No nephew to Toronto trade?
we stand a pretty good chance of getting a 6MOY out of that trade, plus most of the assets used to get Fox. Flipping DeRozan Yielded the CHI FRP and SRP that greased the skids going back to CHI, and flipping Poodle yielded the #8 Dillingham pick that became the Minny 20131 unprotected pick that was the best asset for Sacto.

I mean WE know all of that. I'm just surprised they didn't include that in the list since most casuals think we got fleeced

2 separate westbrook trades making it is hilarious

i know the lakers one gets slammed more but honestly the rockets/thunder trade was much worse to me

I don't really see how the knicks could possibly not be heavily featured.. I guess they were the guys making the worst contracts rather than the guys making the worst trades.

A lot of these trades were forced by the players or due to the team running out of cash. The lakers benefits heavily in these trades because the players request trades to La and they have a lot of cash. It’s not because they were smart.

Interesting
Of course this skips over a fair amount of nuance
It skips all nuance, although that's not surprising considering its bleacherreport and there's supposedly a fan vote component. KAJ forcing his way out of Milwaukee to the Lakers and Dr. J getting sold to the 76ers are only looking at the result on paper. Shit, I would argue that trading Rodman for Perdue shouldn't even be on this list- we were contenders with Perdue on the team every year except for the Tim Duncan tank year and won a ring with him on the roster in 99. Trading a contributor for a malconent headcase that fucked up our defensive gameplans in high pressure situations seems like a pretty good move but this is only there because he was teamed up with MJ after the fact

10000000%. That houston team was a championship team with both CP3 and Harden healthy.
I'm almost positive either Harden or Morey didn't want CP3 on the team anymore. He talked about it saying just randomly out of nowhere Morey told him he was being traded to OKC.

Yeah, they really could have won a ring or maybe even two. So harden wasn't complete trash. They could have beaten the Warriors if they were both healthy. They were up 3-1 in the series where CP3 was out for the last two or so games.

Rodman's legacy is getting insanely overrated, especially the Chicago years. It is basically used to prop up Jordan's leadership and became a talking point in how he was a true leader, despite Rodman stating that it was Phil Jackson who go through to him.

Rodman's best defensive years were with the Pistons, but if people acknowledged that it would lead to an uncomfortable question as to why was Isiah Thomas able to harness that productivity and yet Jordan couldn't (it was actually Daly). The Spurs definitely mishandled Rodman, giving him way too much leeway to a point where Rodman didn't respect the organization or Robinson at all. I recalled someone asking the Admiral whether Rodman's productivity justifies his some time questionable behaviour, and he actually said something to the effect of "Absolutely", as if rebounding a lot would justify him to skip practices, shoot 6 3 pointers in a half during an important playoff game, or just hang around the basket to collect rebounds while leaving his man wide opened.
