Lakers were in whatever is the polar opposite of the “group of death.” Complete cream puff of a group, leading to insane point differentials.

Based on the standings/points alone, we would have been fourth despite being in the toughest group. They just happen to reward group winners.

We didn’t draw the Lakers because we were 4th. We’re not. As the top WC group winner, OKC draws the wildcard, PHO. That leaves us playing the lakers, and they were 4-0

What CGD is trying to say, is that if group winners were not given precedence, we would have been seeded 4th, which is true as PHX would have the point differential tie breaker. But because we won the group, we automatically get a top 3 seed.

Other than wanting our young team to experience a high-pressured atmosphere game(s) as a prep for the playoffs, the reason im' rooting for us to go deep in NBA Cup is that nice paycheck the end of bench guys (DGJ. Minnix) are getting before Christmas. They already secured $51k each by making QFs..($102k if they reach SFs, $205k Finals, and $514k if we win it all )
