Scott's Notes:
  • I've said this before so I'm sorry if I'm a little bit of a broken record... but our team has the kind of depth and balance now that it is going to dampen individual stats, specifically scoring, that makes the casual observer question things, but anyone who knows ball will see what is happening. Indeed, last night we had our 7th different leading scorer on this 7-game win streak. I love how we are not overly reliant on Wemby or Fox or anyone for that matter to win games. We can beat the #1 team in the league *by 20* with our top two guys only combining for 18 points. That is wild!
  • Bark all night, Keldog, you earned it. What a spark off the bench from our heart and soul.
  • Castle was superb and just does a masterful job of pushing OKC to the limits of its physicality and forces the refs to blow their whistles. There is nowhere to hide that hand checking and physical play against Steph. And Steph with a 3 point shot? Look out...
  • 19 assists, zero turnovers between Fox and Harper. Brilliant distribution from them both, and Fox had another 5-6 hockey assist passes that created good looks but led to a second pass that created an even better look. The depth of our roster allows Fox to not force things if his shot isn't falling, and several games now he has settled nicely into a distributor role. And let's face it... his gravity is opening things up for everyone else. Likewise with Harper, I think teams are starting to understand they can't take a break against this rook, and he is creating spacing with his gravity.
  • I was higher than consensus on Champ, and I want to take a second to shout him out. He had a brief rough stretch, but he bounced back with two big paint buckets and he was HUGE on the boards last night, leading the team with 10 - all on the defensive end. Considering how we've allowed opposing OREB to kill us this season, and it looked like iHart was going to do it again for a minute, Champ being a cleaner on the defensive glass deserves a shout out.
  • Pedestrian stat-line from Wemby, but he had so many "nopes" on defense that it completely changed things. His defensive presence will never be accurately reflected in a box score.
  • Can't forget Devin and Korndog, both played their roles masterfully last night as well.
  • Mitch brought the boys out to play last night. Called timeouts at the right moment, kept his foot on the gas and responded when needed. And made a great challenge in the first half.
What You Said
  • @teamduncan21 - Castle and johnson played very well. Harper changed the pace and really blew the lead wide open on his steals and passing. Wemby is on the quiet side but his presence is felt. Looks like OKC adjusted last game by ensuring wemby is not as impactful but accidentally making everyone else play better.
  • @brazil - Spurs kicking asses they are supposed to kick, nothing much to see here
  • @Robz4000 - As great as KJ, Castle, and Barnes were tonight scoring, the real story was how effective Harper, Fox, and Champ were despite not scoring imo; they changed the game with their passing, defense, rebounding, and ball control. That said, Fox missing all his freethrows is concering. Also, Chet might be legit afraid of the Spurs tbh.
  • @spurs10 - Man oh man I loved this win! When we have our tamales tomorrow this replay will be in the background!!
  • @heyheymymy - Keldon Claus delivering presents in San Antonio. 7 game winning streak. Let heaven and nature sing.
  • @LeBowen - Does anything need to be said? They rested players for this game and we beat them at their own game, without even getting hot from 3pt or any other random bs. With Wemby on minutes restriction. Special shoutout to Keldon, career game. Harper is scary, tbh.
Next up: Christmas Day rematch in OKC. This will be a tough one.

This is at least the second game that Keldon gets all 5s across the board. Hope he can keep this up all season long. The other Spurs feed off of his energy and that enthusiasm goes a long way toward the team's confidence.

The fact that he doesn't get much of a shout out shows that Vassell becoming a very good - to - great role player, with better than average D and big, timely 3s is now par for the course.
